Did you get that impression from last night's episode of OTC? I wasn't really watching the show only caught bits and pieces but I got the impression he wouldn't be coaching them.

I don't get the strong dislike for Roos on PRE. I don't find him too offensive, in fact he seems quite genuine to me. Then again I rarely see much of him. I've reached footy saturation point and all the talk shows bore me. I much prefer to just watch our team play these days rather than take in all the analysis and politics.

Just from his body language and the way he spoke in regards to what Melbourne need got me thinking that he'll throw his hat in the ring.

I like many others don't watch OTC anymore. Can't stand Roos.

Was wondering whether he mentioned the worst 30 seconds of football ever (after our poor last minute or so v Gold Coast last year). Well the mighty Geelong stuffed up big time on Sunday at the Gabba and I am sure didn't get put to the torch like we did last year. I reckon Geelong made at least five or six blatant mistakes in that last minute that cost them the game. Yes they do have more credits in the bank than we did but we were certainly lambasted for our display. Did anyone who watched hear any negative comment pointed at Geelong ?

Yes indeed.

They mentioned the Jack bend zee knees on 360 again last night when others have been doing it for years.

:hihi

They mentioned it and dissected it, second by second. The conclusions that they came to were that:
• It wasn’t Dawson Simpson’s fault, Selwood set the tone by playing on first and Corey called for the handpass
• The mistake that Corey made was that he kicked it centrally, rather than to the boundary line where it could have gone out of bounds
• Brisbane played it wonderfully, esp Black with his kick to Patfull
• It wasn’t Geelong’s fault, they are an aggressive team that always takes risks
• Thank God it happened or Roosy would have been forced to be critical of the Swannies or some of his mates, which would have been unacceptable

Funny that.

Like I've been saying, they try to paint a negative picture of our football club.
Give us this tainted image.

Look at Essendon for example.
Imagine if it was us under the investigation.
Oh my.I shudder what Melbourne's media would do to us.

Bigger than both World Wars combined that's for sure.

Yep, I asked the same question on another thread. Media too scared to make negative comments on Geelong. Always easier to pick these things out on a team thats not going to turn around and make you look stupid later on.

Code:
Roos - great player & excellent coach. Makes some very pertinent observations & has pulled no punches at times when talking about us. No complaint with that per se. However - he is absolutely awful when Sydney become the topic - he starts dribbling....& then is someone mentions "Rossie"...he gets worse....An appalling man crush on Ross Lyon. I did get annoyed when we beat sydney last year & neither he nor Healy were interested in discussing that game....for some reason....

I got over it.........oh hang on.....maybe I didn't.........

Maybe Woooosy has a man crush on Wosssy cos Wosssy was the brains that helped get Woooosey his kudos and icon status.

Chris Scott is on the couch at the moment, i hope they ask him why they delisted Taylor Hunt.

Did we actually win let alone play in round one?
Seems that winning in front of 83,000 and having a debutant play a blinder is not worth a mention. AFL 360 also. Imagine if we lost. We would have a had a dedicated segment and a live cross to punt road!

On the couch never have much to say about Richmond, and when they do it's at the end of the show.

Playing on Thursday night means our game is old news. Not a particularly memorable game either. Our time in the spotlight will come let's hope it for the right reasons

One gets the impression that some sections of the media rate Carlton decidedly not-at-all and maybe there is a sense that if we were any good we'd have won by alot more. And I'm inclined to agree.

Having said that, you do get the impression that there are alot of commentators out there who really consider Richmond as an irrelevance. In the last quarter, those doing our game could talk about nothing other than the prospects of Carlton winning the game. Yet again it was is if only Carlton "should" have been winning it.

Or has 30+ years of following Richmond's failures grown an enormous chip on my shoulder?

The more we win the more it hurts the commentators. They feed on our negativity. Lol. Eat 'em alive Tiges!

It's a long season and we've got a lot of Friday night games. Need to save something for later!

Much prefer them not to pump us up until we've done a bit more than beat Carlton.

it always astounds me how many richmond supporters bemoan the lack of interest and/or constant negativity shown from the media.

Do you really think we deserve it?

WAKE UP!!! until we stop being middle of the road side and start winning premierships we don't deserve anything!

You would think that after McIntosh played such a great game on debut, and got the round one rising star nomination they may have made mention of it.

A lot of the 'non coverage' would be because we played on Thursday night, and because the performances of Freo, Port, Adelaide and Hawthorn are very fresh in their minds. They don't think we'll make the 8, so why bother to talk about us?
