Not the year of the Tiger

Injuries has hurt us without a doubt, but even when the troops were there we didn't look good so to think it's going to happen that's not true.I have faith tho this team fights to the end on there day can win against all odds.

No way no we have adapted to the rules don't get me wrong we're getting mauled by umpiring, but we a to static and Dimma needs to cut the stubbornness and fine tune a few things. The 2 rucks is beyond a joke yesterday lions put work in to Nank and he suffered.Dave goes into the ruck or Balta and our defence suffers to. Why not play CCJ, Chol the cattle is there. I'm not buying this rubbish from Dimma it doesn't suit our system yet in 2019 we won it that way with Nank and Soldo.

Biggest drop for me in 2021 we have been carrying to many passengers and good players down.Drop off in skill level and kicking a major factor to.

Fine tune a few things were in it , but it starts with Dimma for me we're crying for a extra tall marking player and ruck. The same with our smalls how long can we persist and wait for them to come good.

Really so far its been eerily similar to previous flag years - let's hope the ending is the same.

Maybe we are foxing everyone. Tread water and try to get to the break at 7-5. Lots of teams have run their race early or shown their hands.
Tiges holding fire and then after the break unleash the three headed monster up forward/help for Nank in the ruck and start punishing the team that have peaked or have put the cue in the rack.
Well it's a thought anyway. We're always thinkers outside the box these days.

It’s just the same thing as usual. get injuries, find new players/new positions for existing players and then lock and load for the back end of the year.

2017. 6 and 5, followed by 9 and 2. Then 3 finals wins.

2019: 7 and 6 followed by 12 straight wins.

2020. Short season. 2 and 3 with a draw after 6 games. Then 10 and 1. Lose a final, win 3.

2021. 5 and 5. These waters are not uncharted.

If all our midfield was 6 weeks away, it'd be season over.

but 60% of them are back next week, and the rest the week after.

we are pretty much exactly where I expected us to be.

should be 7:5 at the bye, win 8 of the last 10,

would get 5th or 6th.

9/10 would get us 4th.

I still think we will win the flag.

why? because everyone above us at their best, is about half as good as us at our best.

will we need some luck? yes.

Not willing to write us off until I see how we go after the bye but the warning signs are there.

What concerns me the most our inability to restrict opposition scoring. When we started our run back in the later part of 2017, back half of 2019 and 2020 we would rarely concede more than 70pts to the opposition, or around 10-11 goals. Right now we are getting scored against heavily, even last week in our win against GWS we conceded 82pts which we just don’t do when in form. A look at the back part of the 2018 season shows that even while winning we started conceding higher and higher scores to opposition before it all came crashing down in the PF.

Good Richmond sides under Hardwick strangle the opposition and don’t concede big scores. Right now oppositions are opening us up and doing it at will.
Yeah but pre-bye in 2019 we conceded 17 goals to Collingwood, 19 to GWS, 14 to Port (in a win), 15 to the Dogs, 15 to Norf, 16 to Geelong and 15 to Adelaide.

On the Dad's Army, the oldest is Sheds at 32 and he's in vintage form. Cotch is 31, but he was very much a bit player in 2019 because we were nursing his hammies then too. If we can get him to the races the bad guys will know about it. Prestia is 28 - prime. Bolton's gone from handy forward to rising superstar. Stacky will be back. We'll make sure there'll all right to go before we bring them back.

Beat Adelaide and Arsedon, freshen up, ambush the Eagles and we're 8-5 with St Failda, Suns, Collingnogood to follow. Possibly 11-5 and knocking on the door of top 4 with MCG revenge games against the Bears and Scats coming up.

Can't wait.

EzY's right, we need a bit of luck, but *smile* me, we're due.

Some negativity in this thread.
This year is probably the most challenging of all given the injures to key players, lots of our senior players out of form and contending with a very obvious AFL agenda to hamper our success.

However, none of these factors are insurmountable; Get the full side back on the field, brush up the sloppiness and fumbling and most importantly play with the ferocious hunger which won three Premierships!

We can't be dominant forever and dynasties come to an end. But it aint over yet!!

2019 we were written off due to injuries. We won the flag. The Brisbane game ? A third of our topliners out and they beat us by 28 points. Had they not received the amount of frees in the first half it would have been a different story. Some strange decisions on the night???????? Winning this years flag from 8th would really *smile* the AFL off.

7-11 we have won 5 games with a reserves side.
We string 4-5 games together.
We will motor into September.
If we don't its not all lost, we can regroup and work out who stays and he gets the chop.
We have 6 picks under 50.
We need another ball winner. Green.
We need a quality winger, Cerra
Our round 1 2022 team regardless of this year's efforts will be completely different.

Admire the confidence.
But anyone can see we are not top 4 this year. We have been bitched slapped by the good teams this year.

I'm getting the exact same vibe Red.

We are transitioning from the hunted, to the hunter.

Snag a couple of wins before the bye, get some stars back, end the CCJ farce and it's on like donkey kong.

I think we reserve the right to make That call when our midfield returns , if they’re ruled out for the balance of season then this tripe might make sense , we can’t be expected to be beat top 8 contenders with out best 5 mids out , that’s insane . Let’s hope things start turning around soon

There are clear issues with the way we are playing with the game changing this year.

The umpires are grossly incompetent and seem to take it out on us.

But we have a much easier run home and lots of good players to return.

We're still in this but lots to do.

Safe to say the good times are over.
We might finish bottom 8 and make up the numbers.

Can't say I agree with you, 7
The Tigers will win the flag from any position in the final eight.
I actually believe the double chance is over-rated. Tigers proved that in 2020.
The threepeat is ON.

The double chance is overrated? I'm pretty certain we used that double chance up last year.

What I really really hope, almost dream for, is that we just sneak into the 8 and make up the 8 in 8th spot.

On the other hand, Geelong tire with their batch of geriatrics and finish 5.

That means an elimination final at the G against the cats which we win on our way to our three peat.

That would mean 4 flags from beating Geelong in a Qualifing, a Preliminary, a Grand Final and then an Elimination Final - what would be the odds - such a delicious thought and it would do their heads in.

We have the team and I believe we are the only team that could go all the way from outside the top 4.

Agree 2021 has the potential to be the best ever.

No year more clearly illustrated the benefit of the double-chance than 2020.
It was the first time that both Grand Finalists lost their Qualifying Final and took advantage of it.

Imagine the furore if we finish eighth and knock a fifth-placed Geelong out in an Elimination Final at the MCG?
It's one thing to finish one place below them and beat them in a match where the loser was still in it.
But to finish THREE spots below them and knock them out ... well, I just can't imagine the anti-Richmond sentiment that would emanate from the media.

Reckon it would force a rule change, and maybe the simple threat of it happening might make the AFL allow it to go ahead at alphabet park.

Been watching last year's Grand Final. Who pops up everywhere? Prestia, Lambert, Cotchin, Bolton and Edwards.

How can we play the same with those players missing? We can't.

We're not out of it if we can get them all back and firing. Easier run home than we have had up to now, we're still in this.

Yep. Not a surprise we can't win consecutive games without these guys.

In fact a 30 point loss to the Loinchops without them - and at the Gabba - is a pretty good result. Don't get the doom and gloom to be honest.
