Noah Balta - Welcome to Tigerland

Why would you sign anyone for 7 years?
Let alone a non super star!
This sort of stuff reaks of panic.
He at this stage is not that good & does not warrant that deal.
If players like Harry Perryman are getting huge deals Noah deserves one then.

Maybe they are front loading it big time over next few years to take up some cap space, then spreading it out over the course of the deal afterwards.

Good on you Noah, and a timely reminder that Yze hasn’t “lost” the players like some peanuts on here think

7 years is a long contract, but at present he’s our biggest name (Lynch will be done after 2025, if his body can even hold out that long), and if we didn’t lock Noah away, other clubs would come calling.

Reckon he was offered 7 years elsewhere for sure .

And if they do come calling, we are in charge.

Great news. I’m guessing the new contract will be heavily front loaded to help meet the minimum salary cap, which also means he’ll be relatively cheap when this year’s draft class start to come of age and become worthy of bigger contracts.

There’s nothing quite like the sight of the big man charging forward then whacking the ball 60-70m. Sometimes it even lands in the hands of a Richmond player…
Which means he could flee for an even bigger contract elsewhere later right?

All over the AFL blokes who leave get seven year contracts. Or six. All sorts of duds.

RFC has seen this. And quite a bit of blokes who leave.

This is classy by RFC. To give seven years to a bloke who's staying.

The beauty is that the bloke who's staying just got a pay rise and a massive advance with his new front-loaded contract. Rioli left and got the cash. Noah stayed and got it. Up front.

He's such a lug. Is he our new darling?

Massive believer that young rebuilding sides need 3 pillars.

A big strong physical key forward, a physical ruck and a strong key back.

WIthout them busting packs and standing up for younger smaller teammates, development gets stalled.

If Tom gets fit. He won't stand for ugly opposition defenders intimidating our young small, medium and key forwards. He will both confront them and put a knee and elbow in the back in a contest. Same with Noah and Nank.

Have been a proponent of trialling Balta forward, but now lets settle him back.

They are the three important bookends for the next couple of years that will allow our youth to feel comfortable, then prosper.

Teams like North would have come on way faster if they had the aggressive physical big men at each end like we'll have, protecting the talented smalls.

Three bookends…. defying conventional physics.

As predicted on SEN Cornehole is having a hissy fit about us signing him up for 7 years. Bet he would love him at Port though.
