Noah Balta - Welcome to Tigerland

Great news. I’m guessing the new contract will be heavily front loaded to help meet the minimum salary cap, which also means he’ll be relatively cheap when this year’s draft class start to come of age and become worthy of bigger contracts.

There’s nothing quite like the sight of the big man charging forward then whacking the ball 60-70m. Sometimes it even lands in the hands of a Richmond player…

Well I'm bloody happy. Thanks Noah, some great news in some difficult times. A fantastic player loyal to the club. Some good drafts over the next 2 years and a couple of years of connecting and the tiges will be back

“I could not see myself playing anywhere else, and I think the hard work that we are about to all put in will make the future highs even sweeter.”

I reckon the last part is a bit of a crack at the departers....

Apparently this is his full statement: " I think I am a loyal person, and I want to repay the favour that players like David Astbury, Alex Rance, and Dylan Grimes showed me when I was younger,” he said. “They pushed me to get better, and now I want to be the one helping to drive the next generation.
“I could not see myself playing anywhere else, and I think the hard work that we are about to all put in will make the future highs even sweeter.”"

Great words.

100% it is.

Not all is broken at the RFC.

Love the comms from the Tigers stating that he’s not going anywhere because he signed a long contract, all the while they are working feverishly to trade 2 other pillars of the club, also on long term contracts, because they don’t want to be here anymore. Seems it’s all in the players favour, lose form or get injured you still get paid. Decide you want to jump ship and try for some more glory because you don’t want to do the hard yards of a rebuild? No worries.
Love someone, anyone, even us, to say tough titties, buckle in, honour your contract.

Long contract avoids AFLs stupid compo formula if he does decide to go.

Good investment.

This contract extension is madness. What are we thinking 🤔
Gotta be honest I think the same. Noah hasn't even really established a position yet. Hardly like he was brilliant this year either.
Not so much the re-signing but the length seems extreme. Tom Lynch? Dustin Martin? Sure. Noah Balta??🤔

Don’t agree. At times this year he was in line for most intercept marks in a game and most intercept marks in the league, despite being shuffled forward and back. He’s a potential AA back man , just needs to be played there.
In my opinion he’s the most important player on the list to start a rebuild.

He left out "they tipped a dump truck full of money on me, I physically couldn't leave."

Our most (only?) dynamic KPP left on the list. Long contract seems about right.

IMHO Noah has got to get a whole lot fitter to reach his potential. Can he?
Yze's quotes last year that he sees him as a burst player were pretty accurate.
I think it's a big reason for his inonsistencies in games. Great raw footballer with some serious skills but his stamina & concentration are poor.
Needs to get real fit as no 1 priority.
Is he a franchise player?
Not that I see. Yet at least.
