Noah Balta - Welcome to Tigerland

The long term view is Gibcus could well be Balta if he can stay fit.

We are losing games and getting caught up in it. We need to accept the year for what it is and keep the eye firmly on the longer term.

Get a full season out of Lynch partner him with Balta and then we have options to play Gray Bauer Lefau as third tall options.
Imo we should be playing a third tall if for no other reason than development.
Gibcus and Balta are essential to our rise, in addition, both can be used as swingman. With Kosi, MYketi & Bauer forward options/ Ruck relief. We need strong mids to complete our rise and dominance.

Playing Balta forward is robbing Peter to play Paul.
In a season where it doesn't matter.
What It allows us to do is have a good look at the likes of Blight and get some games into him.

Of course Blight is no Balta atm, but if Noah had played in defense Blight most likely would not have a debut.A good one at that.
He would have learnt more from that game than a season in the magoos.

Imo Keep kossie and Noah forward and play a mobile third tall with them like Bauer and Gray.

Very worried about Gibcus. Those knees are not great. We have to think beyond him during the uncertainty.

Where was Balta when Blues ran riot in 3rd quarter. Sucking up the sun in the forward line. Look Balta is a a natural back man never going to be a Jack so leave him back. What we need badly is a CHF who can take a bloody good grab which the opposition have to respect. We aint got one at the moment although Kosi showed a bit more grit.

Think Gibcus needs to be tried forward on his return.
For me absolutely not.

This kid is potentially the best key defender we have drafted in god knows how many seasons. At least with his knee he has the play in front and can run straight lines most of the time.
We can do nothing about injuries but we can keep faith in real ability that has been clearly shown in the role.
Gibcus imo has done very little to suggest he can play forward at the level.
I look at Balta and in so many ways he has key forward written all over him very much in the Taylor Walker mould.

In an ideal world injuries permitting Balta, Gibcus and say Miller atm would be ideal down back.
Our trouble Lynch is 32 is copping injuries like no tommorrow and there is only Balta who shows the forward half quality required to play kpf.

No Balta forward and we are looking for two very high quality developing kids given where Lynch is at.

The reason Kosi played well was because Balta kept Weitering occupied. Keep Balta fwd.

It did help Kosi but short-term fix only though. We can't afford a player of Balta's quality job being to occupy a backman of the opposition. We held the Carlton talls well but slaughtered by their average smalls.{Orazio...what the...). Balta would have, based on history, intercepted a few inside 50s and slam punched a few out of the ground.

We're definitely between a rock and a hard place atm. I hope Gray gets a go soon understanding that it's a big jump from VFL level. If he can perform it leaves Balta to go back playing in his best position. Realistically we just need to play out the season, try a few things and then be honest about a few players Futures and maximise draft picks and pick well.

This is exactly right Harold and why the play Balta forward proponents have stuck solid with that position despite the consensus saying "Just put Balta back and leave him there".

It makes life a lot easier for the Kosi's of the world as they step down a rung (could have added Lefau and Gray to that but alas).

But also allows us to give exposure and blood guys in the backline that have shown potential i.e. Blight and seeing if Miller can be a No 1 key back.

Whilst also allowing Noah more lengthy time there to see how he shapes as a key forward.

Essentially it's a positive for the overall development of everyone. Especially with winning not our number one priority.
