Noah Balta - Welcome to Tigerland

He's at his best when set free from defence and can gallop forward, but he seems to go missing when starting in attack (I didn't see much of the second half this week though).

The back six of our seniors is settled, so there's no place for him there this year.

Does he have the tank yet to play wing in the seniors? If so we may have another ace to slip from our sleeve from late August.
If there is a spot right now I think it is Macca's. he probably doesn't have the tank yet but he definitely could be a wingman

Heard a rumour he might be a late 'Bolta' for this weeks game...get it Bolta....ahh get stuffed

Forget defence. This guy has serious pace and agility. You could see how he suddenly went into another gear when set free forward in the VFL game on the weekend. I agree he should not be rushed in. Is not doing enough yet to warrant it anyway but this guy is a serious talent and a beast to go with it.

Spent a lot of time playing ruck in the TAC, actually broke even with dual AA player Sam Hayes which is an exceptional effort considering the height differential. Given we are playing Grigg as back-up ruck there's a huge opportunity for Balta to fill that role. I get the fact he hasn't put in a blinder playing forward but this is the hardest position to nail down. I see him as a high half forward, very similar role to Hogan but with the ability to pinch hit in the ruck. Given his kicking range is 60m he will also be a huge goal kicking threat.

We're going to need someone. This year. A second ruck that's not Grigg, a second forward who's not Caddy or Towner, if we are to win the flag. Otherwise, NicNat or Gawn will get a hold of us (which they are well capable of without giving them a leg-up).

Balta is a kid. No way can he second ruck for half a season. But 5-6 weeks? As we saw with Towner and Graham last year, timing is everything.

At the moment, Moore and Chol are in front. Balta will blow past them in time. But timing? It's a knife's edge at times.

Cannot have Balta rucking at AFL level this year. Would kill his confidence. Just finding his feet at VFL level. Have to use someone more experienced.

I watched about 20 minutes of the VFL on Saturday and gee Balta looked good when the ball hit the turf. was very impressive.

Nank is a more than capable forward, could we play him along with Soldo (who from all reports has improved massively in the VFL)?

Want to see us try this (or Chol) at some stage this season.

He's not though. He's ok, at times.

Kicked 3 goals in a game last year (albeit against the Suns). Good contested mark and a good kick.

Would definitely offer more than Moore did on the weekend.

So are you suggesting a full time role forward for Nankervis?

Not at all.

But I’m interested to see whether he can rotate between the ruck and the forward line a la Lycett and Naitanui.

Regardless, we to keep trying different options to hit on the best combination like we did with Townsend at the end of 2017.

Has been playing back & fwd in the same game so his 3 goals is even more impressive. a touch off topic but curious as to your thoughts on how Baker is going, I have been very impressed with what i have seen of him thus far.

Has exceeded expectations, not sure where he is in the pecking order but with guys like Shai & Stengle struggling to get a game one wonders whether he'll get the opportunity in the forseeable future.

Stengle/Bolton play closer to goal than Baker has been, if he & stengle keep thier form up they surely have to get a chance otherwise they may look elsewhere....

Geez you'd wanna hope Bolton in particular significantly improves his form, not just keep it up.

Not sure we'll play him higher up the ground in the real deal, would need to come in as a pressure forward. Don't think he has the height for a wing, maybe a Prestia type role if & when a vacancy opens. Having watched Charlie Spargo recently there's a few parallels, a run with role might suit him. Could see him playing on a guy like Zorko.
