Nick Vlastuin

I wanted him further up the ground before this season because I was worried about his defensive capabilities one on one but I was wrong about that. The thing I love about him is that he is so composed, his hands are really good, he keeps his feet and his decision making is first class.

Corey Enright is the right comparison. He is turning into the player who is just there in the right places at the right time making the right decisions. Incredibly valuable in the back half if you have a player like that.
Dimma was actually asked in his Dissections about playing Nick in the midfield, but he said that they want to keep him in defence for the present, because they think that's where his qualities are put to best use. Kind of coincidental that it happened this week, when he played probably his best game back there.

hes a ripper , I think Dimmas got it right with playin him in the back half, I was one sookin that he should be in the middle, nah his just right down back atm

He always manages to get little crucial touches that don't show up on the stats sheet, but are so telling in a passage of play.

Yep

Same Same CC.

Yep. If he never makes it to the midfield we at least have a very, very good HBF for the next decade.

I like him on the HBF but for large portion of games this year, he has get stuck in the back pocket. I don't ever want his starting point to be that deep.

He's the type who will win a Norm Smith, then get noticed
Yep. Barely noticed by the pundits in the media.
Super consistent and reliable. I think we all forget he is only in his third year......

Love him.
My only slight is he holds onto the ball a bit too long at times and is wrapped up. Saying that, it's probably a directive from the coaches to hold on and pick a good option rather than blaze away.
His attack on the contest is great to watch and I agree he is captain material.

Hardwick pushed Nick cause he knows he can take it. Good mark.

Yep. Not sure who he fingered at the front of the group but he also poked McIntosh. Good sign as these are our future leaders.

Very rapidly becoming a better back line general then Chaplin. Which is great for the future

LOL at SEN - Hudson saying Vlastuin should get mark of the night as it's very rare to take the mark without touching the ball, unprecedented actually.

It struck me when contemplating Newman's game or current lack of it tonight, that Vlastuin seems to be showing the same level of poise and quality in defence that was Newman's trademark for so many years. Talk of Vlastuin as a future captain seems to make the comparison apt.
