Did I get it right?

Spot on about out offense not handling the pressure.

In saying that i'm extremely excited about our future prospects.
This is a team that completely changed their offense halfway through a season and missed a Super Bowl by a few yards! An incredible effort.
Just wait til they get a full preseasons work on the playbook, the sky is the limit.

I like your optimism, it's just so hard just to get to the Superbowl...everything has to run just about perfect.
That said I do rate our team very highly, and think we will be a top 3 team next year.
Even though our defense....numbers wise was one of the best....it struggled against the very best, needs tweaking.
Don't underestimate Manningham, we missed him dearly in the post-season.
Kaepernick will be better for the experience who's capable being the best QB in the game imo.

Well that's just it, a lot does need to go right but a lot didn't go right for us this year either.
Mid season change of QBs/rookie QB, new playbook, injuries to key players at key times etc
Most teams need to juggle certain things during the year but a complete change of offensive sets mid season is massive!
It took until the Championship game to start using our TE and I think we've only scratched the surface with how potent this offense can be.
If Gore can stay healthy again it would be a huge help too.

Our secondary could definitely use some work, gave up way too many big plays.

The offense took a fair while to adjust to the game, but I reckon Stoobes hit the nail on the head. The 49'ers secondary did not help to keep the game tight enough while their offense settled into the game. The 49ers weakness was the big passing play, and Flacco delivered against an overwhelmed group of 49'er defensive backs early.

The pressure of the Superbowl must be so intense. Apart from the game itself and what it means, the players have to wait 2 weeks before they can get out there and get it on. I figure that in that situation, any team with experience is going to be ahead of an inexperienced team, which is why I thought the Ravens were a big show.

SF nearly stole it because their offense realised they just had to go for it. And they were skilled enough to nearly pull it out of the fire.

If the 49'ers get a good draft pick for Smith (which they should), then they might be a really scary proposition next season. this team with the addition of two more first round picks. Wow, I reckon I'd back them to do a 1972 Dolphins. All they need is a bit of strengthening in the secondary.

Well said.

Not including pick or picks they can get if they trade A.Smith.
They can really take advantage of upgrading their horrible secondary, get big WRs that can run route's, a back up for Kaep,
back up for our DL and potential replacements for them.
Although a loss in ths super bowl I feel good to know this team is on the track for be dominant in the next 4-5 years.

If Revis is in fact on the block, would love to go after him. Mentioned maybe Alex Smith + Culliver for Revis + pick.

Re: NFL 2012-13

That would be a great result, really setting ourselves up for years of success.
Hopefully Kapa doesn't get injured anytime soon.

Re: NFL 2012-13

Besides not liking the 49's, there is a lot to like about their team, in reards to how they are managed and structured.

Re: NFL 2012-13

49ers are going after Darrelle Revis very hard who the Jet's are wanting to trade,
he's a gun player and a Cornerback we desperately need.
5 other teams are very interested but we hold the cards with our first round pick, second round pick and two 2013 third round picks.
Revis has openly said it would be awesome to play for the 49ers, but I'm against it tbh.
One thing he's coming off a serious knee injury plus he's gonna cost a chunk in our cap.
In the long run signing Revis would be a huge mistake.
In a year or two the Niners are going to need all the cap space they can muster to keep the young talent they have now.
Why commit all of your space to sign a CB coming of major knee surgery?
This gamble, if it pays off, makes the Niners better for one year and then they will start losing the talent currently on the roster because they won't be able to pay them. If the 49ers past says anything.....they aren't stupid enough to make this deal.
They will build through the draft because that is what works for them.

Re: NFL 2012-13

I'd steer clear of Revis. More trouble than he is likely to be worth.

There are better cheaper options available, and SF need to be careful not to jump to fill their secondary with expensive signings.

Personally, for the money Reviw would be likely to cost, I'd look for another good pass rusher and draft some young DBs.

The KC SF trade for Alex Smith looks like a real win win.

Geez....the Chiefs!! This is a bit like the Michael Gardiner 'shove' to let an up & comer called Dean Cox take 1st spot.

Re: NFL 2012-13

Some move and shaking going on.

Love what the Niners are doing though.
They just hover waiting for the market to drop, letting some teams spend too much money or draft picks for players.
They get Boldin for a bag of Doritos.
They only pay 3.5 mil/year for G.Dorsey while the Colts shelled out 5mil/yr for Francois and Seattle signs Averil for 7.5/mil per year (and he only played on passing downs last year).

I would laugh if somehow they grabbed Greg Jennings (won't happen) but can you imagine Crabtree, Jennings, Boldin and V.Davis
with Gore or Hunter or James in the backfield? Kyle Williams and Jenkins off the bench? Oh yeah, forgot about Manningham. Anyway...

They're gonna have what.... about 14 draft picks?
You know on draft day someone is gonna come calling and trade their first round pick next year for the Niners second round pick from the Smith trade and Balke will grab it. They're gonna go crazy on draft day and wind up with even better picks next year. Loving it!!!

Re: NFL 2012-13

I heard today that Bolden has left Baltimore because of Flaccos huge pay packet and that he is going to San Fran fair win for San Fran

Yes, but do they need him?

I'd have spent the money on some DBs.

Re: NFL 2012-13

Good luck to the 2 Aussie boys in the 2013 NFL draft tomorrow.

Let's hope Brad Wing (LSU) and Jesse Williams (Alabama) get drafted.
