Next TV Broadcast rightd deal.

But you said in your post yesterday that more TV rights money will bring down ticket prices (or at least stop them from increasing). Bulldust.

That wasn't the point I was trying to make, what I mean is if you want a fan-friendly fixture then it is worth less money to TV. If you take less money for TV then where else is the game going to make it? Has to be from the fans.

If the AFL came out and said we had 4.5 billion on the table for TV rights but we have decided to set up the fixture with the best times for fans and not TV, so we've only done a deal for 3 billion and next year the entry level ticket will be $150 and memberships are tripling in price, I'm not sure it would go down that well.

Gee there are a lot of “what ifs” in that. It’s ridiculous to suggest rights would drop by a third if the fixture was more fan friendly.

Moreover, the AFL have already significantly devalued the TV rights by introducing the Suns and Giants. And I’m not sure how they are going to grow those markets by replaying games on a 2 hour delay in the home market.

FTA average AFL games in Sydney was 28,000 in 2022 (51,000 for Swans matches). FTA average AFL games in Brisbane was 27,000 in 2022 (43,000 for Lions matches). Source: Sports Industry Twitter.

Those numbers are terrible. Pretty sure I read only 72,00 people in Sydney watched the Swans final last Friday.

The more teams in the competition, the less blockbuster games involving the large Membership clubs.
If the Competition gets to 20 Teams assuming they stick to playing 22 Games per team in a season, that means you would only play 3 sides twice.
As an example if you had Tasmania playing the Northern Territory you would have just about a Zero Interest in the game in NSW and Qld.
Even in SA, Vic and WA I don't think there would be much in that game unless there was not other game on at the time.

The other option is coaches afl executive and players take a pay cut. Do you prioritise the millions of fans or everyone else.

And it wouldn’t be 66% it might be 96/97% of what was on offer.
