2023. The year the TV audience was favoured over hardcore members who attend games.

That started a long time ago. As a fan at the game you have to remember that you are there as decoration for the TV coverage.

JJT, I never buy anything from Unc Rupert, he gets none of my funds, ever.

One thing I have noticed is how petty the Australian TV networks are in relation to games on other networks.
I watch Gridiron and they tell you what games on what network no matter who the host broadcaster is.
If the Free to Air Commercial networks had have used their nous all three could have used a bit of commonsense and gone to the AFL with a Six Year Deal each network gets 3 games a week, they work out the finals and each network gets 2 Grandfinals during the deal.
Could have locked out Foxtel.

The bite in this deal is going to be how they distribute games. You would imagine that the big teams will get the prime slots and the minnows & teams toward the bottom of the ladder will be shunted to Saturdays, forcing their supporters to heavily rely on subscription. Fine if you can afford it but plenty can't.

FMD - Gilligan lines his own pockets while bending club members over yet again. Elitist campaigner can FO.

Still reckon it sucks that Gill can sign a long term 7 year deal as he is out the door.

Re commentary choices, I now use the mute button at times but it’s strange sitting in the quiet watching the footy at times.

This is an absolutely sensational deal, huge in the current climate and after the cuts the industry made.

Great for the players and staff, great for the AFLW and great for just about every level of the game.

Awful day for anyone who resents the TV power in the game though, get ready for Thursday nights, lots of Fox exclusive games and a fixture absolutely designed to maximise TV ratings.

I was pleased to hear that club members might get a discount on Kayo subscriptions in the new deal.
They need to do more to encourage people to be members with so many midweek games so that is a good development.

Agree with that. Financially it is a great deal I just hope the money gets to the right places. I have Foxtel so from a TV perspective nothing will change for me. However I much prefer to watch our games in person where possible so more Thursday night games is very annoying. Absolute worst timeslot hands down. Pain in the arse to get in there after work and still gotta go to work the next day.

I hope we only get a small amount but no doubt they will put us in that slot more than I would like.
