If you want to type black text on a white background, click the 'Quick Reply' that now appears at the bottom of each topic.

Thanks but what about when quoting someone (like I'm doing now)? Can I set the toggle view to white permanently somehow?

And, when logging in, can I set the time to 'Forever' instead of '1 hour' ?

Click on the arrow next to login thingo (technical talk) and select the option you want.

I did, but I want to make it permanent as it previously showed, or do we now need to click on an option everytime we log in?

Click login near register and select always stay logged in

I can make Forever the default. Like it was on the older version of the forum.
What say all of you? rosy?

I'm easy. I don't select forever myself because of the damage someone could do in admin if they accessed my computer/account. I always logout and login again. I was a bit concerned when my computer conked out and I had to leave it in a computer shop once but thankfully most functions require a password after a certain period anyway.

Done then. Default is back to 'Forever' - unless heaps of people want it the other way around :)

Thanks to those who've helped iron out the gremlins and special thanks to Tester. I reckon we owe him a slab or two. Please keep mentioning anything you think needs attention.

It's been a big day. Sweet dreams all. :sleeping

Thanks Tester.

I never understood why it was an option as anyone can log in and out whenever they want. Was it just an automatic log out?

It's a security thing. If you login forever on a public computer then anyone can proceed to do stuff in your name.

Setting it to 1hr means if you walk away - then at least there's a cut off time after which that can't happen.

OK. I thought everybody could choose their own default option.

Site upgrade seems easier to use, well done to the people involved as I haven't seen a Gremlin or an ET anywhere.

Usually log in for short periods for similar reasons mentioned by Rosy - wise if multiple people use the same computer - imagine the mess Mrs Tooheys could do to a certain reputation. ;D

It works ok for me.

On your HTC or on your computer?

That happened to me earlier also, but after awhile it was fine.
Try hovering over the 'jump to' button for longer as I found it sometimes took awhile for the menu to pop up.

Suppose I should clarify. When browsing on computer, the jump to box works. When on my phone (the afore-mentioned HTC) it doesn't. Any other phone browsers experiencing this?

Do you get time to sleep Rosy?

Well you obviously can teach an old dog new tricks. I never knew the last post icon was there. I'm very excited.

Doesn't seem to be on the "unread posts since last visit" facility.
Only on the thread list.
Pity, that's what I usually use the most.
Rest seems good.

My only issue with the previous set up was that if you wanted to quote a slab of text in a reply and your reply was lengthy as well, I found that the cursor kept wanting to return to the top of the page. I have probably done a rubbish job at explaining the issue, but I hoped it's fixed.

I had that problem before the site was updated.

Someone on here kindly told me to turn on the Compatability Mode button on Internet Explorer. Worked for me.
