NBA 2011

My boys the Knicks, no Melo, no Amare, no worries.

We got Jermey f'n Lin. Seriously what is going on with this guy, playing like a ten year all star. Watched the Lakers game live yesterday. He set up the win in the first ten minutes. A fantastic success story, hope he can continue to live his dream, seems like a great humble guy.

I own about a dozen NBA jerseys, mostly old school, my favourite being my Atlanta Hawks Dominique Wilkins jersey. I have decided my next purchase will be a Lakers "World Peace" jersey. Ron Artest what were you thinking?

Lin hype is crazy right now in the NBA. Nearly over the top because of his race and skin colour. He just came out of nowhere though and is ballin. Would be averaging something crazy like 25/4/8 last 4 or so games. Bench player and cut to instant star (so far). Will be interesting to see if he can keep it up especially when Melo comes back and hogs the ball.

Spot on there Barnzy, things will change when Melo comes back.

May actually make some coaches realize that there are some hidden gems down lower in the roster. Let's not forget they tried at least two others before him after Melo went down, so he is effectively a fourth string pg.

I think they were saying he's the first American born Chinese player to play and only the third or fourth Harvard graduate, not sure if current or all-time. (May have misheard this quote)

It will be a shame when Melo comes back as I recon the Knicks are playing the best basketball, that they have, for years!

Linsanity right now.

He was with my Warriors last few seasons and was an absolute hack!!
Never in a million years would I believe he would be putting up the numbers he has done lately.

Must admit as my Pistons have struggled for some time now, I haven't followed the NBA as closely as usual and have just caught up with this. Quite incredible.

For those not aware of the Lin-hype. This is why..

Lin-sanity: Why the hype?

Everyone loves a battle-against-the-odds story, and Lin fits the bill perfectly. The reasons for his meteoric rise to become a U.S. basketball sensation are numerous, but it all starts with talent. In just weeks he's gone from one-time bench-warmer to team savior, leading the Knicks to five straight victories and averaging more than 20 points per game, while his field goal percentage during this winning streak tops 50%. In Friday's game against Kobe Bryant's L.A. Lakers, he reeled off 38 points in that victory alone.

Lin also stands out due to his academic prowess, being the only current NBA player who has a Harvard degree, and is the first Harvard graduate to play in the league for almost 60 years.

Harvard grad Lin has shot at basketball immortality

Then there's the race factor: Lin is the first U.S.-born player of Chinese or Taiwanese descent to play in the NBA, which is helping to tap into the significant market of Asian-American basketball fans. This in turn is spilling over to NBA devotees in general.

So he was apparently at 2 other teams before the Knicks and was just about to be cut from the Knicks. What has caused the turnaround?

just watched the last qtr Lin highlights of the raptors game. amazing end to the game. he showed massive balls to charge and lay up when they were 3 points down, then when scores level and 19 seconds to go he forced everyone away and milked the clock down before naiing a 3 pointer with 0.5 secs left. this beats the ending to teen wolf.

The funny thing is the Raptors crowd loved it, they went absolutely berserk which was bizarre.
Lin has a problem with turnovers he's had 8+ t/o in games I've seen....he'll get better though.

He is turning it over far too much but at the moment he is still in honeymoon mood.

I want to see how Melo, Stat, JR Smith and Lin all go with one ball to share.

Watched the Thunder beat Denver in OT today.

Amazing game. Durant finished with 51 and Westbrook with 40-something.

Ibaka had a triple double with points, rebounds and BLOCKS!

I know it's early days but Thunder are the team to beat imo.

ESPN writer got fired the other day for unintentional racist remarks.

"Jeremy Lin is a good player but all the hype is because he's Asian. Black players do what he does every night and don't get the same praise."

Did that have anything to do with the "Chink in the Armour" headline when the Knicks lost their streak?

That's what Floyd Mayweather said...don't think the journo said that.
