NBA 2011

Basketball Australia have to get an exemption from FIBA to allow Irving to play for us due to him playing for USA in U17's as tiger 74 said. There are 2 previous examples of FIBA giving this exemption, cant recall names but you'll find it online.

Irving would be mad to pass the boomers up as he may struggle to play for USA.

yao ming retiring, shattered. great player for houston when able to get on the court, amazing touch for a big guy, and very humble off the court. a champion player who never got to reach his potential thru no fault of his own. :clap

Yao definitely cut down in his prime.

Get this lockout fixed!!

Super worried. Next talks not due to till end of July early August.

Reckon we are heading for another crappy 50 game season.

Dennis Rodman inducted into the hall of fame, well deserved, a legend of the game. Ed Wyatt summed it up perfectly saying Rodman was the most unique basketballer he had seen and there will probably never be a player like him again.

Spot on there, was capable of doing things for his size which is very rare.

well deserved

i remember reading his book many years ago. it was a fantastic read about a bloke with no pretences but also scary when talking of the time while playing for detroit, he was sitting in his pick up (ute for us aussies) in the palace arena car park after a game. he had a loaded gun in his mouth ready to end his life.

in this day and age of everyone wanting to be "the man" and go to guy dennis rodman was so unique in his fierce appetite for rebounding. who the hell averages 18 rpg. an absolute beast on the boards and as mainlandy said, there will never be another like him

It's true. Boy he could rebound and defend. He could hustle. Desire. But pure madness. This is the Rodman I like to think of, at the Pistons and doing what ever it takes.

This thread can sleep for another year. What the hell's going on !

Sounds like NBA players might be joining the NBL soon.....which will be good for us I must admit.

Top rebounding seasons since 1973

This sums him up pretty well, of the best 8 rebounding seasons of the last 38 years he owns 5 of them.
For a bloke that is only 6'6 it's hard to believe he averaged 18.7 rpg.

Season↓ Player↓ Team↓ Rebounds per game↓

1991–92 Dennis Rodman Detroit Pistons 18.7
1992–93 Dennis Rodman Detroit Pistons 18.3
1973–74 Elvin Hayes* Capital Bullets 18.1
1978–79 Moses Malone* Houston Rockets 17.6
1993–94 Dennis Rodman San Antonio Spurs 17.3
1975–76 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar* Los Angeles Lakers 16.9
1994–95 Dennis Rodman San Antonio Spurs 16.8
1996–97 Dennis Rodman Chicago Bulls 16.1

I relly enjoyed that book too. I think he said listening to Pearl Jam helped him through it? UNique is certainly the word.
