Apparently today in Dallas is Lebron James day.................get the last 12 minutes off work :hihi
Yep,also heard if you give Lebron a dollar he'll only give you 75c back as he hasn't got a 4th quarter.

So glad to see the Mavs win, or is it just the Heat lose? :)

At least when the Celts sold out for a ring... they got it!

no such thing as a "no egos nba team" but the celtics are pretty close to it

Blimey! I never really appreciated how unpopular Lebron James is until after game 6. He must be the USA version of Julia Gillard :-\ No he isn't that unpopular :spin

Heat will still get a championship.....it's just a matter of time.

Yes, they will.

Just need to find some better depth/bench players after "The Big 3". Basically the rest of the roster is a bunch of scrubs (although Haslem fit is handy and Chalmers goes okay but it's not enough). Joel Anthony was a starter for goodness sake. Few good offseason moves and they will be one of the favourites to take it out next year. Although how's their cap space?

On the Lebron hate, I find it staggering. I actually like him. I hope he steels himself and comes back, bigger and better. Needs to close his mouth though and let his play do the talking.

- A new Iphone model is being released, the limited edition LeBron iPhone, only problem is that it has to be on vibrate mode because it has no rings.

- Lebron James opened a pizza shop, but its only eat-in, because he can't deliver.

Forgive my ignorance, but does the NBA have a salary cap?

If so, it is hard to imagine how they will fit in some decent depth players with the three amigos.

They do have a salary cap.
It varies from year to year......it's calculated as a percentage of the league's revenues from the previous season....it's 58 million this season.

It's a soft cap.

in 1998-99 the nba was subject to a player lockout and the fresh CBA that was signed gave players virtually complete control of their freedom under free agency. as a trade off the NBA commission gave the franchises plenty of ways to retain their players. the players association let it slide because it meant if retained they were paid handsomely. under these exceptions it allows franchises to pay over the cap under certain circumstances but owners are then subject to a very expensive luxury tax.

this is the way our game will be heading unfortunately

quote from wiki. the link is interesting reading especially the part about the knicks in the luxury tax section

"Soft vs. Hard Caps

Unlike the NFL and NHL, the NBA features a so-called soft cap, meaning that there are several significant exceptions that allow teams to exceed the salary cap to sign players. This is done to allow teams to keep their own players, which, in theory, fosters fan support in each individual city. By contrast, the NFL and NHL caps are considered hard, meaning that they offer relatively few (if any) circumstances under which teams can exceed the salary cap."

Anyone following any of the trade rumours/draft, etc?

Looks like the no 1 pick will be Kyrie Irving and he's Australian. Will Ricky Rubio be any good for Minni next year? Checked out a few of his videos - can pass but can't shoot. Looks physically weak.

He was born in Australia to American parents only lived here for 2 years of his life before moving to the USA.
He's not Australian.......He's American.

actually he holds dual passports, and has referred to himself as Australian in some US interviews.

He has played for the USA u17's (or 18's), but he recently refused to rule out playing for Australia. Apparently being courted by both sides

I think Rubio will be graet for the TWolves next season. I vaguely remember him being thought of as the best passer in his draft... and then some! What team wouldn't benefit hugely from such an addition?

With Irving, I heard Brett Brown talk him up recently and i recon BA will be getting right into his ear with promises of many games for the Boomers. I recon a lot will come down to fitting in with his NBA commitments but would be an AWESOME get for the Aussies!

They only big question is... who should I start to follow now that Bird has quit the league? ;D
