Nathan (Axel) Foley [MERGED]

Congratulations Nathan. Eat 'em Alive. You're everything I love in a Tiger. Here's to a long, injury free future.

A good workmanlike game at the coalface tonight especially in the wet conditions. Speed may be a little lacking in his game but the footballing brain is working really well and it showed time and time again. Still has it!

Wouldn't have won without him tonight. Was huge.

Super game again.

Always surprised that his disposals aren't higher? Seems to be everywhere and involved in everything (especially early)......

It has been great to see Foley turn his season, and career, around in the last half of season.
Given he is already contracted for 2015, he was looking like a very expensive VFL player to carry thru another season not so long ago.

When the game was on the line yesterday he spent most of this time in the fwd pocket. He didn't really get much into the midfield until we got 40+ points up and then played out the game there... and did OK.

But, he is no fwd pocket. With Miles and now Edwards playing more midfield time and Dusty to come back it is getting tight.

Against Sydney if Martin comes back from Lennon and we keep Gordon for his pressure (or consider Lloyd again) he falls to sub.

That's fine... but what about Jacko?

It is getting close and unless their is one injury or suspension the match committee could find themselves choosing between Jacko and Foley for the sub spot in the final. If they play Vickery and Griff.... yikes.

The wee-man could find himself being dropped on the eve of a final for the second year running. Miles success may screw him.

Looking forward to him having a big game this week. He's the type that can break lines which is exactly what we need up there against the Swans.

Jacko copped a week suspension from his VFL match on the weekend.

On Axel, Dimma seems to be in love with him lately (and rightly so), i can't see him being dropped anytime soon.

I my opinion Axel is in too much a good vein of form to be dropped. Yesterday he worked his socks off often for little stats reward but never stopped being involved. He also has the skills to support the big three mids if they have a drop off.

Axle is perfect trade bait. Still has currency and could get us something good in return. He aint going to get any better and we need more pace in midfield. Harsh but true. He would be ideal for expansion clubs or at Essendon to help Jobe. Making these calls gets you from bottom of top 8 to top 4. Either him or Jackson.

Totally agree.

Won't be dropped this weekend!

The Demons took Cross this year. Foley's more marketable as a gap player for clubs like the Dees and Saints that want to get some experience around their kids and make them competitive. Or the Dons if players get wiped out.

I agree though that he's not guaranteed a spot in the side, particularly after this season.

Put in another workmanlike performance on Saturday. Areal teamman with his putting his body on the line with hard tackling all day. Deserves his final appearance next Sunday.

Axels first finals appearance! I'm so happy for him. He'd have been absolutely gutted to have missed out last year.

Will he get dropped like in last year's elimination final?

Geez, he is probably lucky that the rest of our fwd pockets are average. He is hanging onto his spot (fwd pocket/7th mid) by the skin of his teeth.

Would have thought his last month has been a bit better than that?
