Mid season Draft

mail is they’ve not picking up anyone ? Why ?
They want to keep spots vacant for National draft
I don’t agree
Might be that they want to attack the ND as hard as they can, but most of them kids won't properly be ready for AFL level footy for a couple of years. Surely there's a bunch of youngsters that have gone through the development leagues and fringed selection in their 18 year old draft that are now 20 / 21 and quality state league players that could slot in as senior possibles with minimum fuss.

Weird if we don’t pickup anyone in MSD
I’d expect a few delistings at end of year so there should be enough spots for ND

Doubt it. If we took a player in the MSD and they are no good after 6 months, we de-list and that spot is again available.

Unless they're asking for an 18 month contract.
If that's the case we don't have to draft them.

Can't see the point in taking a player for six months. By the time the player gets up to AFL fitness levels, gets to practice and understand the game plan at VFL level, and figures out how to gel with his new team mates. The season's already pretty much over n everyone's wasted half a year of work n energy to go nowhere. 18 month contract n the player knows he's got time n opportunity to uproot his life, get the fitness up to required levels, half a year of magoos and a full pre season to learn the game plan and all his team mates names so he can make a proper contribution to the team.
We should be looking at these players as long term prospects not just as disposable hole fillers and only bother with the mid season draft if we've done our proper homework on the players instead of just a hopeful fudge.

Naismith Gibbus, Clarke possibly Fawcett.

Could be 4 options for the Tigers to take in the MSD to get a good look at.

They;ll probably take 3.

Then again who knows.

Having the option of taking 3 will give them better flexibiliy.

Will depend on what contract players out on.

We might not want to commit list spots to everyone on 18 month contracts.

6 months - not so much of a problem.

There will be long term players come from the draft though. We just need to pick em Craggles.

Even if the Tigers can grab one long termer out of it thats a good result for a MSD.

Bauer and Coulthard are both promising.

No position on our list is an abundance of talent , best available young talent for me , love a small forward with clean foot skills

Club doesnt need El Nour right now weve got plenty of defenders ahead of him. Vlastuin, Broad, Short, Baker, Brown, Rioli, Young Millar, Trezise, Balta, Smith Grimes and Gibbus

Maybe rookie draft prospect at years end.

Buku Khamis is an interesting one to look at going into the trade season, I'm sure other clubs will be looking at him as a possible target.

Kid has some serious flexibility as a swingman the lad and some real athleticism and is s goer.
Each of your first four are no certainty to be around in 2 seasons time. Brown has still to show that he can stand up when the team is under pressure. Young, Miller Smith and Trezise are young defenders and look to be part of the future. Grimes is almost gone and could be after Saturday night. Balta is a forward.

If available El Nour is a must.

I've seen enough of Brown to be convinced, 10 year player imo. I like Trezise but we haven't seen enough, hope to soon.

I like Mutaz and don't have an issue with him being on the list but my personal view is that I would prefer us to build up our stocks of key forwards with the aim of Balta eventually going back again. Balta and Gibcus is a pair we can build a defence around but I get the need for him to play forward now.

Unless there is a long term talent or 2 available in the msd why waste list spots ? We shouldn't pick players now just coz we have a few injuries and have them clog up list spots.

Went and watched the WA v Sa State game yesterday, SA won by 10 goals.
With Naismith looking like he's done his ACL, Wa ruckman Brynn Teakle would be well worth considering, was very impressed by his mobility.
