McMahon for McGuire?

I reckon he would be worth a look.

If he tested well physically then you would definately be interested. He is a big unit who can play.

The one thing to consider I suppose was how Brown came back after a similar injury. Not very well.

Matty would have been great value pre accident. His injury is similar to Brown's.
Bottom line is that players do not come back from such injuries to play an elite sport consistently.
Think about it....Polak, Brown, McGuire...are we running a rehab. centre or trying to get back where we belong????

Whats with the Matt hate ? The bloke could play and went through some really scary sh!t. Wish the guy all the best, just not as a tiger.

Just a big risk, that's all. Wouldn't have any great objection if our medicos (OK, someone else's medicos) gave him the all-clear and he was a chance to do a Barry Rowlings.

I thought it was about Eddy ............ and it still looked good ;D

Could almost say it was worse given it was much lower on the leg, very close to the ankle

Wont get 17 for McMahon. 33 would be alright. I would trade for McGuire if the price was right. I guess the question is going forward would you prefer to continue with McMahon or would you prefer to hedge your bets on McGuire (if the offer was to eventuate). What about Luke Ball. Would the Saints consider offloading him considering he cant cement a position amongst their crack midfield. Had a poor game on the weekend but not sure of his time on ground. He's only 25.

Here's a crazy idea. How about we just invest in draft picks and a 18 year old's instead of more recycled hacks.

Totally agree that we should be after picks Barnzy

But if the Ain't only wanna deal with players then we might have to take whatever we can get

An idea of trade value of a similar player would be Farren Ray in 2008.... He is 3 years younger than JM though...

He had a terrible 2008 & quit the Bulldogs, yet they were still able to trade with St.Kilda = FR + pick 48 for St. Kilda's pick 31.....
He actually looks quite reasonable playing with St. Kilda....

St. Kilda has their premiership window open ATM... Completely different to us, so an experienced running player might be a good fit for them.....Plus their salary cap. might be very tight, so money might be a big factor in them getting an experienced back-up player .....

They will have say pick 17 & 33....

Richmond pick 35/6 + JM + pay most of his wages for pick 17...... maybe - especially if St Kilda think the draft talent pool is reasonably thin ......
JM + pay some of his wages (?) for pick 33....

Anyway, it's really just conjecture on the back of The Australian article.... Might be an interesting trade period though...

I'd happily get rid of McMahon for Goose. He would be a good help to our young boys playing in the backline. I know we want to use drafts to get players. But if a fully fit Matt Maguire in our team would be good. If St Kilda feel that they can get the best out of Sanchez then by all means trade.

Stop it, we're talking about ways of moving McMahon on. A draft pick is unlikely.
