Peter Hudson mongrel punted his way into the record books, Butcher seems to score consistently as well, just doesn't score pretty. Like the look of Talia, has a touch of a young N. Voldt about him.

Who?

yes by the looks of this his kicking is a little erratic, but boy can he mark and tackle
if his kicking can be made just a little more consistent he would be devastating in the fwd line

Good question.

Butcher's stats are as follows.
Remember that he very rarely wanders more than 30m out, yet his goalkicking stats over the last two years still remain around the 50-60% accuracy.

30.18 this year isn't too bad at all.

35.32 last year is a bit more in line with what Phantom is saying but, yes, 30.18 is a very good result this year. At least his curve is heading in the right direction.

It's still 62% from what are TAC games generally played on small grounds.

If in doubt, go watch him.

This Sunday morning, Princes Park, from 11.15am.

Which Brisbane City Council bus should I get on to get to Princes Park? ;D

I have seen Butcher play. Once last year when he kicked 2.1 from memory and then again this year v GC17 at Carrara where he kicked 6.1 (although I don't recall him kicking a behind that day but the stats say he did). Perhaps I saw him on his good days!

How does Butcher's goal kicking efficiency compare to Grifiths? Out of interest?

Stat's also dont reflect out on the full

And is this a concern with Butcher?

What i dont get is how can this guy be so bad (if you believe what you read on here...) and he is openly regarded by the media and talent scouts as a top 3 draft pick...

The way people talk about this guys kicking - you'd think he was hack who'd be lucky to get a Rookie spot....

I just saying that stat's dont say everything. A kid could kick a great kick and if the person on the recieving end drops it, its deemed ineffective.
I'm also not only talking about Butcher either, but stat's are not as clear cut as they seem.

Generally better.

http://www.sportingpulse.com/team_info.cgi?player=Benjamin%20Griffiths&action=PSTATS&pID=189744915&client=1-3020-0-81015-8054968

Griffiths hasn't played much footy this year, due to his ankle injury, consequently his 4-4 in the last round did skew his 2009 %.
2007 - 83%
2008 - 69%
2009 - 59%

But looking at the stats is only secondary.
You only have to look at the way Griffiths sets himself and how the ball comes off his boot to realise he is a much better kick.

Is he any chance of making our second rounder?

How would you feel about a Butcher & Griffiths 1-2?

Not sure this is achievable...

One thing I do know - every piece of literature the club has released on late has stated we need a KPF (Cameron, Rawlings, March, etc)... Now if Butcher is the highest rated KPF - I cant see them going past him...

Phantom,

Are Griffiths injury concerns the only reason stopping him from being a top 5 pick? From that point of view is he Selwood Mark II?

Wouldn't think so.

How would you feel about a Butcher & Griffiths 1-2?

Not quite sure what you mean, our picks 1 & 2? Equally unlikely.

Yep.
I was talking with a StKilda scout on the weekend.
We laughed as I commented that we were stupid enough to take Butcher.

Not as a reflection on Butcher himself, but moreso that we are condemned to go with the KPP in a conscious effort to atone for our past recruiting, regardless of Butcher's attributes.

Like 2007, this year after pick 1, it becomes a bit of a lottery.

2007
1. Kreuzer

2. Cotchin
3. Masten
4. Morton

2009
1. Scully

2. From Trengove, Martin, Rohan, et al.

Damn, all that tanking to get Pick 3 for nothing

As said before, Butcher's kicking is the worry.

Butcher has been his height for 2 years now. If he'd just grown that tall, I'd consider his kicking flaws may be growth related.

But he's been 197cm for 2 years, and he's had his kicking flaw for all of the 2 years that I've seen him.

Personally, as said, I feel much stronger about:

Griffiths, Talia, Carlisle, McDonald, Casboult.

And below 195cm,

Temel & Daw.

Or better than all the guys you have named and select Aaron Black

You have a very high opinion of this fella.

What are his strengths, weaknesses and which AFL player would he best be comparable to?
