Mark Neeld to coach Melb

Lyon must be relieved that the coach is picked, getting closer to his comfy gig again. I'm not a fan.

Mike Sheahan 'exclusive'......... :hihi on the Hun now. Assuming most of the 80+ comments come from upset Dees fans not happy with Neeld.

I'm glad they went for Neeld, because I was quite worried they might target Leppa.

Not sure whether Leppa is that good a coach, but I reckon he speaks really well, and coaching is all about communication.

Garry Lyon is full of sh!t IMO. That a club would rely on one person's opinion so heavily is an emabarrassment for that club.

He was part of the Bailey appointing committee too.

Agree jb. Didn't seem like much of a process to appoint a new coach even considering Neeld was an easy pick up.

Matthew Knights wouldn't have been the worst choice for Melbourne, given his record of support for young players. But such was the hatchet job Essendon did on his reputation, he probably didn't get so much as a phone call.

Like his namesake Wossy, Gaddy is one of the most overrated people in football.

Bailey to Neeld isn't much of an upgrade.

if this happens, then Gary Lyon is the biggest joker of them all. He should be sacked from partcipating in all melbourne official duties, he just xxxx them.

Agreed, but perhaps Knighter wasn't interested yet either. Don't know about you, but I see more problems ahead for Melbourne.

Reckon they have loads of potential. Still a very young team, but whether Neeld as a rookie coach can put the necessary steel into them remains to be seen. With an experienced director of coaching overseeing things, it might work.

Not sure the problems will be immediately related to the football.

replace the coach...wasnt gaddy lyon on the board that recommended bailey if so got that one wrong

not a great record so far...but the problem people are still there....the MFC has a stench that one bloke
cant fix...

I reckon Neeld is a promising get for Melbourne. Has had a bit of success at lower levels, and has been exposed to the most professional coaching machine in the AFL.

what about eade, cant believe melb didnt even look at him, pretty quick decision to appoint a untried coach without looking whats out there.
