Lynch !!

Point is he played 5 games took 14 marks and kicked 16.2 in 2017,so he can do it.Last year I believe he was played under restraint given how well the team performed. This year we have injury gaps to fill.Play him in the pocket.Caddy FF and Lynch wide on a flank. We need to be creative now,not set on formula.

He was under the radar and couldn't miss a shot. Watch the VFL today? Sprayed every shot at goal. The stars were aligned in 2017.Townsend may deserve another chance, thought he was good today, but it won't be at the expense of Lynch, that's ludicrous proposition really.

If Hardwick can focus on Bellis strengths he needs to do the same with Lynch. Ever since Jack got injured we have tried to make him play like Jack. One tall bring it to ground etc, but he is not Jack, who is, what other KF could do what Jack has done in 2017 and 2018? No coincidence that since Jack was injured the mossies can't get their game going either.

We reinvented the fwd line when Jack was our only tall and we need to do it again.

I would like to see one less small and one more Townsend given a run. Backmen shouldn't be running around blocking and mauling Lynch without fear of retribution.

And 11 of the 16 came in 2 games, against Freo and the Aints.

Expense of Lynch is an interesting comment? But I have not proposed dropping of him but just a repositioning.

Simply has to do more.

5 possessions isn't good enough. And get in front and start getting some movement into your game.

Keeps running under the ball too - get him some contact lenses.

No pre season off a serious injury. One of half a dozen who's played every game & long minutes every game because our other key forward has copped a PCL injury.
To me he looks tired & I'm not in the least surprised. Carrying an enormous workload.

So why do we persist in bombing it long to him? Too predictable, opposition know that's our plan so they put 2+ on him and North ran back to get the crumbs and tackle our smalls. We need to move the ball quicker so our forwards can lead up and we can hit them inside 50.

This thread is nearly as bizarre as the Dustin Martin one.

He's coming off a PCL and is 4th in the Coleman.

If he isn't the least of our worries he is certainly in the conversation.

Good logic lads. For what he’s working off in terms of pre-season he’s battled valiantly in a side that has struggled forward of centre.

That's a question for the coach. From what I can gather that's the role he's been asked to play.

Gee this talk of 3 players on him at all times does not reflect the true situation. If he has 3 players on him we should have two free to get the crumbs etc.Fact is his marking ability is woeful for his size.At the moment I would rather have Townsend play his role because he can take a good mark and smash packs.

The reason that the opposition can put 2 or 3 players on Lynch is because those around Lynch are ineffective. No player can handle being triple teamed, but, if we have other options free then the opposition can't put 3 on Lynch. We need to stop bombing the ball into the forward line, we need to be lowering the eyes and looking for options. Bombing it to a pack where our main tall forward is outnumbered is going to fail most of the time and is playing against the percentages, it just don't work.

Precisely, need to think our way forward, otherwise we give our forwards no chance. Look at the stats from last night. We won the inside 50s but it was irrelevant as our delivery was rubbish. The opposite is also true, they got easy entries inside 50 and took full advantage. Very similar to the Footscray game, they delivered to free players inside 50, we bombed it in.

We need to play to the situation more. If there is no-one further up the ground you go sideways, if the other team is running on and having a surge you slow it down and keep possession. We don't adapt well. Play like this and a forward like Lynch has little chance of making an impact.

If Lynch has a couple of players hanging off him we should have someone free. Look at the way we made space inside 50 in 2017, look at the passes to players in better positions. We have lost that and without it we are not contenders.

Massive concern. Lynch doesn't read the ball or play all that well and isn't as nimble as he used to be.

Lack of preseason lol. We're 10 weeks in. Don't make excuses for him.

Im a fan of Lynch’s. But seriously if he isn’t fit by now can we trade him back to GC.
He has been underwhelming in the last month.
Very disappointing.
No confidence.
Embarrassing last night. Zig the clown showed him up kicking 5

Yeah but 3 of em were free kicks werent they?

The amount of goals that Brown the Clown and Texas Lurch Cox get from frees when they play us is nauseating.

They always get 2 or 3goals from frees every time we play them.

Agreed. Both Cox and Brown have modelled their games on those huge plastic, inflatable stick figures you see outside used car yards, with flailing arms to attract attention. When they sense the slightest body contact, Brown and Cox switch into an exaggerated, off-balance dance routine, a cheating form of a modern-day hokey pokey.
As much of a genuine champion as Adam Goodes was, he also had his own do-si-do, gangnam-style, nutbush-city-limits moves he could turn on at whim – in an instant he could abandon the beautifully balanced, strong-through-the-core, elite athlete act and turn on a well rehearsed impression of a giraffe on skates. It's funny how these guys, when they have possession and a goal beckons, can stand up in a contest and get ball to foot, and yet, without the ball, their entire musculo-skeletal system turns to jelly.

Plenty of excuses. Ever had a knee reco? His best is yet to come, there is no way he'd be fully fit. Many players struggle with limited pre season prep let alone come back from a knee reco. Need to be patient, Tigers need to play smarter.

The more I think about it the more I think Towner could be the answer to help Lynch. Remember Towner's role in 17 where he was the foil to Jack. OPPO had to pay him respect as any mark Towner took inside 50 was a certain goal as he didn't miss.

With Caddy playing more midfield minutes and Balta all over the place, maybe it's Towner Time?

With us already being robbed of Jack's and Nank's presence as talls, and with Tom's limited preparation, it's also unfortunate our options have been reduced further by the injury to Moore. As a speedy medium-tall utility type, Moore could have played a much-needed role in separating defenders and providing another lead up option. Not a star or even an established foot soldier, but his absence has resulted in less magnets for the coaches to move around.

Accept reasoning about Lynch coming off a long term injury.
And also it must be pretty hard when we've constantly bombed it high to a pack rather than out in front of him.

Does that explains a few tendencies I've noticed of him? Dunno.
One is where at times he's stretched his arms high above him for an overhead mark but has his head looking downwards.
The other is - again at times - where he gets too easily jostled out positioned in a marking contest.
Finally - I wish he didn't get sucked into petty off-the-ball push shoves that run the risk of giving away technical fees.

The forward line set up is not helping him at all. It seems we want him to spoil the ball forward from 3 or 4 deep. Caddy should be in the forward line with permanently, not in the midfield. Townsend could also help. Teams are targeting him, he also needs protection from tip rats like Thompson.

Watching the Westcoast big forwards make me think Big lynch is a tad on the soft side. Needs to harden up
