Lynch !!

He’s lost his athleticism - I reckon it’s that simple. Can’t run & can’t jump.
Exactly. Been saying this for a couple of years. When's the last time you saw Lynch mark the ball on his own on a long lead or rise high over a pack which he was doing early on at GC. The only marks he takes now is in a wrestling situation. His knees / legs are shot.

Spot on. He’s nowhere near the player he was. Problem is we’ll be paying for it for another 3 years.

It’s a bit hard watching this bloke at the moment. I get that the service is not ideal but still he gets his hands to plenty and doesn’t mark them. His goal kicking is haphazard and he is really not good when the ball is on the deck. Very slow reactions.

Yes we’ve won 2 flags with him (probably don’t win 2019 without him) but for a million a year going forward it’s fair to expect a lot more than he’s provided in 2021 and so far in 2022.
Tommy's knee injury may have hampered him more than we realise he's had dramas twice with one pcl.

His mobility is less than it was before he came to the RFC he was all over the place braining defenders for the Goldies.

It is now less than it was in 2019 when he carried us to the flag.

Tom was scragged a lot tonight. It looked like referee bias on the night. (We saw lot of that.) Got *smile* nothing. Maybe they see him as a sook. I don't suppose it matters much.

He was out of position often, what with VFA RFC players sending it to his opponents. Tom watched, forlorn. But he did charge at one and spoiled it. Finished the game with one spoil.

Maybe the referees have seen too much of Tom Lynch. Perhaps he can change their minds. It's not like the AFL will.

It's only R3 late in the career of Tom Lynch. Perhaps in R4 it will be urgent. Umpires respect urgent.

Interesting individual is Tom
Gold Coast were glad to see him leave
There is a reason for that

I’m not so fussed on any player’s popularity and am completely focussed on how they play.

Issue with Lynch is his lack of athleticism and the salary cap reality for the next three seasons. We also can’t play a similarly immobile ruck in the same forward line, so that experiment needs to end as well.

I don’t profess to know but this is how his exit was reported by Fox:

Lol. Yeah because since he left GC they've just improved in leaps and bounds. Lynch hates losing and as captain at GC he perhaps gave many a spray for their lack of input. I've no issue with Lynch the person and attitude. Our issue is that Lynch the player is now in a decline. His body has aged due to the battering he got as a lone ranger at GC and unfortunately he is only going to get slower which is not a good sign for us as we have another 3 years on big money. If he has chronic knee issues then he should be given a large chunk of this year to rest it and reload as we won't be contending.

We brought him in on the big money contract to deliver this club premiership success. He did exactly that. Twice. He is past is peak - that’s the reality. It’s how we manage him from here on out will be the key.

If I were to question anything (apart from nagging concerns on his finger) it's his inability to separate on the lead from his defender. This is why his marks are so often spoiled.
Sure it doesn't help when the ball is kicked poorly to him but he's also partly to blame for this. Jack R is a better lead/mark player still.
Maybe injuries are catching up? Wouldn't be the first key forward that's happened to at 30 yrs of age. It's a very taxing position on the body.
Also I was getting frustrated because often when the ball is kicked on his head, I feel he doesn't give himself a good run up at the ball & tends to play too shallow. He needs to be hitting packs with momentum but is often flat footed with little power in the contest.
Our forwards coach has got some work to do with how he plays. Maybe he needs to come further up the ground & Noah or Jack plays deep. I'm not sure.

What’s the nagging concern on his finger? He had that VPR (volar plate reconstruction) done nearly 18 months ago now.
