Lynch !!

I honestly think this fella is the next captain of Richmond.
I've always felt Tom was sort of a reluctant captain at GC, nearly like he thought he was obligated to do it once Ablett bailed. I'd prefer we let him concentrate on just doing his job onfield.

I'd love us to give it to 5-time Norm Sith medalist Dusty,

and give him the same license to do as he pleases off-field as on-field.

How good would it be seeing Tom Browne get only the shark eyes to a dumb question?

Notice Jack verbally slap Tom on Monday?

anyway, Cotchy could surprise us all and retire at 37 as a 7 time premiership captain

Like Debra Conway said,

I like the way that you took advantage
Stayed at my party 'til everyone went home
A perfect stranger
Need a place to lay your hat
The lone ranger couldn't saddle me with that
But you were right on track
It's only the beginning
But I've already gone and lost my mind
I feel like making daisy chains
And playing hide'n' seek
When it's only the beginning
The fairy dust is still in flight
And this could be the love of a lifetime even if it lasts a week
Or maybe just a daydream
When we go walking along the river
Watch the old men fishing the sunny side of the pier
It's like a movie and you're my leading man
The way you woo me just like Cary Grant
You want to hold my hand
It's only the beginning
But I've already gone and lost my mind
I feel like breaking window panes all up and down Swan street
When it's only the beginning
We can bring the house down every night
And this could be the love of a lifetime even if it lasts a week
Or just the sweetest daydream
And do you ever feel the passion
To jump from a speeding train
I'd like to be the wheels beneath you
I'd like to be the rain
That could wash away your pain
It's only
So hold me closer
Let me feel you sigh
My Spanish butterfly
It's only the beginning
But I've already gone and lost my mind
I feel like breaking window panes all up and down my street
Any day now I will hear you call
And this could be the love of a lifetime even if it lasts a week

Lynch is not Jonathan Brown. Better player. But not the same character.

Shorty is an interesting nomination.

My other suggestion is Nando. Press conferences would be awesome.

I'd go for Vlastuin too. Dusty doesn't want or need it. Lynch, great player but no.
Agree with you about Dusty. He is not outgoing enough. Basically a shy person which is not the attribute for a captain.

Shedda deserves it as much as anyone else. The boys wearing his number in the dreamtime warm up shows the respect he has within the group. But honestly it wouldn't matter who you give it too.
Maybe we should go to 22 rnds 22 captains concept.
Best performed Capt gets the finals gig. :D

He’s a chance but I’d be backing Nick Vlastuin as our next skipper

Im an unabashed fan of Richmonds Greatest Love Machine,

but I believe making him Captain would be a slight backward step, toward the days when our best and toughest were not made Captain.

Kane Johnson and Chris Newman served us admirably, but Richo should have been The Man.

Cotchy is our best and arguably our biggest and most indestructible mongrel, as well as an articulate choir boy with hair that is the envy of the world.

Lets not be coy. if Cotchy doesn't maim someone severely in a game, he punches the locker afterwards. and his locker looks like it was purchased at a Syrian cash converters.

so who has the next best combination of talent and unbridled mongrelity?

I'd say Dylan Grimes, Tom Lynch, Toby Nankervis, Marlion Pickett, Liam Baker and Sydney Stack, probably in that order.

I think given cotchy has another 2 years in the job, we can rule Grimes, and Marlion out on age.

and its probably fair to remove Sydney from the captain short list at this point in time.

which leaves us with Tom Lynch, Toby Nankervis or Liam Baker.

jeez. all colossal men, who love to win and hurt.

I think Nank would rather go fishing in southern tasmania,

which yeah, by elimination and science, leaves us with Big Tom or Little Liam as next captain.

and, although bakes has the smile of psychopath that compels followship, always pick a good tall over a good small.

if its not Dusty, who does seem out of contention due to reclusivety and the white shark eyes (italics for anyone forming a punkish band)

then I vote Big Baby-Faced Psycho Tom Lynch too.

when @Tigers of Old proposed it earlier, I dismissed it out of hand,

but through reductionism, I find myself in agreement

Shane, Tom , Jack G are probably most likely options.

Maybe the Bont or Rowell if we pinch them :))

It's not the archetype for a skipper but introverts can do it. I give you Michael Tuck and Allan Border.

Dusty would be my choice but for the media stuff that he'd hate. So, yeah. I think Lynch or Sheds.

Based on your criteria, hard to leave Flossy out.

Other than a soft head, he is as hard as they come. I wouldn't like to have the ball in hand on the boundary line with Flossy on my tail.
