Lynch !!

Plenty of people are trying to spin this into Hardwick having a crack at Schwarz's depression, or even worse, link it with Shane Tuck's death. It's more of the same from the *smile* grabbing shenanigans. We're being attacked, Hardwick's sick of it and I'm sick of it.

yeah I don't think Hardwick was doing that at all.

Like I said, people have been saying on here it's great to be hated and feared again, and yet the extreme handwringing that goes on if anyone in the media says something critical is hilarious. Do we want to hated and feared or not? If we do, suck up the criticism and don't cry about it. Dimma's reaction to this was the first time I've seen someone at the club buy into this stuff so I was a tad surprised.

Anyway, it's all a massive storm in a teacup really. On that I agree.

Ox is in the media and he tee'd off pretty hard and unjustly on Lynch. Dimma returned fire, maybe a little too hard, but that's also how he played the game. I'm sure Dimma regrets what he said and would have preferred to slap Ox without the mention of crying which has now excited the SJW with the depression angle.

Storm in a teacup. Teacup full of Ox's tears.

There is no collective when it comes to reacting to the media. Some of us are old enough to remember the times we'd ruled the VFL Jungle and we didn't give a *smile*. But I imagine the younger generation don't have the era to look back on and are a bit sensitive to everyone having a shot at us due to the years and years of ridicule.

Yeah, after reading Ox’s reply l reckon next time they see each other Dimma will say ‘sorry mate shouldn’t have said that but l was annoyed with everyone overreacting and think that what you said about Tom wasn’t fair or accurate...’ they’ll have a quick chat, work it out, shake hands and move on.

Unfortunately many love being outraged and this does feed the trolls.

I don't think we have a say in it. Our club has scarcely put a foot wrong off the field in many years. We've done nothing of note to attract offence, yet after looking cooked through injuries and absenteeism we were suddenly at the top of premiership markets and it seemed to spark a string of critical takes from nowhere, one after the other.

I just think people are sick of us being good, in the same way I got sick of Hawthorn being good.

If they're going to hate us, we may as well accept it and enjoy that we're causing them anguish and give it back to them. No apologies, no regrets.

As hard as it is, just try to steer clear of the media if it bothers you (both regarding footy and in general).

It riles me up so I for one have decided to try and take a break from it all. Your life will be all the more positive for doing so.

I think Benny should have been the one to say something measured. I understand dimma was trying to say you’ve got no place commenting on toughness, you had none on the field and look where it got you’ but it comes across as real men don’t cry, you’re a pussy. Fair enough after the *smile* being said the last few weeks but Peggy did say in an interview a day or so ago that anything that upsets our members or is against our club ethos needs to be stamped out. Dimmas tirade was ill timed.

Schwarz did have gambling addiction, depression and had been traumatised by a horrific death in his family when a young teenager. Some of you probably know the story, I wont go into specifics here.
I've read his book. I am not convinced he had depression, i think his gamblig addiction made him depressed; which is different.

It's been a busy day on the Lynch thread. I'm not long home after taking a mate and spending the day with him in hospital. So I've have been out of the loop, it's taken a while to read all the posts. It's been good reading them, some very good posts.

I'm pleased that Dimma has come out swinging. I especially liked this
“I thought the carry on was completely over the top to be fair. Those sorts of things happen within the game 400 times but for some reason we’ve all got it out for Tom Lynch.
“I found it disappointing, especially some of the players that made comments, David Schwarz was completely over the top and Mark Robinson as well, I was incredibly disappointed with that. They’re there to make comment but let’s just make sure we spread the load and not just target Richmond players.”

I especially liked the last sentence, and it's exactly how I feel about the recent Richmond media attention over the last month or so.

Supercoach Clarkson has been doing this stuff for years.

David Schwarz made it personal.
Dimma made sure he won't go there again. Maybe others will think twice too.

Play on.

I understand dimma was trying to say... real men don’t cry

My last post on this topic as I'm bored with it. It wasn't a comment on 'real men' at all. He was calling out hypocrisy.

In his efforts to be edgy Schwarz has trodden on toes. Hardwick stamped on Schwarz's toes and said have a think about it. The end.

my main concern with Dimma's comment relate to the crying during the GF. if Schwarz comes out and says he was battling depression, suicidal, dad was just about dead from cancer how does that look.

too many are profess to be worried about mental health, but at the same time dont consider their actions.
So Dimma needed to be mindful of Schwarz mental state but Schwarz has nothing to worry about the fallout on what his comments could do to Lynch?

Lynch said nothing about Mark Robinson or about David Schwartz.

It was Schwartz and Robinson who came out and threw crap at Lynch.

Lynch's coach, ie: Dimma, threw some crap back.

I only have one reaction: if you dish it out, you have to be able to take it when it is directed back at you. Otherwise, don't dish it out.

Simples!

Now Carey has had a say in a full article in The Age, Key quote:

"The fact Tom Lynch has been criticised for doing little more than what siblings do in the playroom is nothing short of ludicrous."

I can remember Schartz rag dolling and jumper punching Joel Bowden ,

Joel wasnt exactly the agro type, picked a safe target there ,

Double standards everywhere

I just saw the press conference, I reckon he will regret saying all that and back down harder than he did with Longmire.

He was banging on about people questioning Lynch's courage but I'm not sure anyone did. They just said he should be aggressive in the right way.

Not sure how mocking someone for crying fits with the Richmond man who opens up and loves and cares for everyone yada yada yada either.
My view is Ox was (to paraphrase) rabbiting in about Tom being fake tough and if he (Ox) was out there he’d show him what real tough is. Dimma called him on that big time.

I thought the same. He played with a plastic agro too.
