Lynch !!

Graeme Richmond would be smiling right now. The fear of Richmond is strong and everywhere.

Yep, I get enjoyment at reading the salty fans on Facebook forums going on about protected species, AFL love children etc....the world has finally realigned.

Similar melts for Hawks era, Brisbane got little respect, funny enough Geeeeelong seemed to miss the hysteria, even after Dank working with them and Bomber Thompsons drug addiction they still get through unscathed.

Its not netball.
I don't want to see defenders standing next to opponents and reaching across without touching.

If there is niggle, if there is aggro, if there are grown adult men getting upset then play on.
I don't mind bumping when the ball is in play.
Its called body positioning.

Where I draw the line is the jumper punches (thankfully stopped) and cheap stuff after play eg after goals or out of bounds.
The sport that does it best is rugby union - hard at it, but respectful of opponents and umpires

Correct, this is not netball.

Herein lies the issue. The problem is that there is too much holding the man without a free given, so the players figure they are a reasonable chance to get away with doing this and complain mightily when the free is paid - not unjustified given the massive inconsistencies in this. The defenders push opponents (often in the back) and punch opponents - but there is no free given so they keep doing it.

If there was consistency we would get:
Jumper punch: free kick.
Holding your opponent: free kick
Bumping your opponent: no free kick, always been legal.
Shoving your opponent: in the back: free kick, in the side: no free kick
Positioning in a marking contest: no free kick.
Punch the forward just before he goes for the ball: free kick

But the critical factor here is to enforce the rules consistently. Currently the players know that breaking the rules with a little whack, or a little push, or a bit of holding is the better tactic as they know they will get away with it more often than not. They might even get a response and get themselves a free kick.

Do they wonder why less goals are scored the way some forwards are treated?

I sent an email to Gerard Whateley .

He accused Aarts of being the ‘second shooter’ the one who felled Collins.

I also forwarded the video link.

Love to call Watson & Lyon in the morning but I’m banned so I’ve decided to email.

Let’s see..

Nothing came of it- as I expected and some said the same to me in here, private & in person.

He did in his take said there was no ‘ second shooter’.

Don’t want to sound like I’m sticking up for ol Gazza, however in his defence he has stuck by his stance on the whacking of the guts for along time , dosent matter who does it , that’s just his thoughts on it and fair enough.

Though you wouldn’t want Razor patrolling your back half , imho the umps are the key to this . We had a free reversed the other day because B Ellis number 4 for the Suns got a non impact touch to the feathers . I say let the push an shove carry on if they want to waste there energy doin that shot , however when a player touches the head or gives a whack of any kind , pay a free with a 50 , yep it would be bloody frustrating at times , but it is allready , personally I think this is the only way to get it out of the game , hit em on the scoreboard, teammates and coaches will jump on players if there costing goals

This is now out of control and AFL need to stomp on their own media wankers. If Lynch was indiginous they would be calling all this hatred out big time. This is a witch hunt of the highest order. Tigers should put out a press release showing other stomach punches this year of which I am sure there are many and ask why they have not been targeted like Lynch. Just because Collins has a glass stomach and puts on a tough boy face afterwards is zero call for this rubbish.

Collins went down when he knew Lynch was gonna take the mark. It also coincided with Aarts little arm block.

If it was the other way around the media would be raving on about tiger defender staging

So Mitch Robinson calls someone a f&*^head on the internet yet Tom Lynch is the w@^ker??

:rotfl2 :rotfl2
I am amazed that this is published now on the AFL site. Talk about lowering standards to the bottom; this is getting close to gutter-press. Indicative of where the AFL sits currently? But also fairly convincing proof of the lengths that they are prepared to go to in order to destabilise us perhaps?
Leaves little doubt of an orchestrated media campaign from the top.
I also really object to Mark Robinson, head football writer of the Hun, calling Tom a 'douche-bag' on AFL360 last night.

Would really like to see Benny step up and fire a few well-directed barbs back about this grubby campaign.

Can't wait for out next G game v GC with 65000 of us there. Sam Collins, welcome to hell.
There are two ways we need to fix this.
Tommy boy, you need to kick 6 in Darwin.
Then, we win the flag.

All of this and much that has gone on this season is because...
We succeeded in recruiting the prize. .Tom Lynch ...and...
We won the premiership.

We are inside every salty supporters head.
I love it. Bet Dimma does too.
