Lynch !!

Good on you, W !
But if Aarts is guilty of anything - and it's true that Collins is chasing after Lynch and only drops after the 'big hit' from Jake - why isn't he the culprit instead of Tom? Tom claimed an open hand but not sure if there is footage to clarify. Both impacts looked pretty minor to me; I mean for a huge, tough, hard-as-teak footballer. Don't suppose Collo went down looking for a free since Tom has definitely got away from him this time however it happened?

So you probably didn't send it to the AFL, right? Because they would have already examined the whole match forensically as they say they do, right? In order to impose and apportion for any perceived misdemeanors? Therefore, they have found ... and then dismissed this as a - 'no case to answer'? But surely the AFL cannot be such biased hypocrites to ignore this same offence? Surely? Or was it the reason why they backed away from the Lynch-mob by just a fine (and thinking no-one will notice how Collins got away with exactly the same thing?)

Remind me again why SEN banned you, W? [Surely not because they feature a heap of prejudiced, self-appointed moral arbiters who in no way have any credentials to occupy such high ground, and that includes their head honcho: Jabber Hutchi Poobah himself].

Thanks Leon.

The reason is because I called Robbo a ‘drunk and coherent ‘ when he was on SEN and use to annoy me the Richmond ‘hater’.

I know it was wrong!

This is the biggest media bashing of one individual since chopstick gate.
Disgraceful!

Where was the media assasination of Tom Hawkins when he elbowed a guy to the face???

Oh no, that was, oh he didn't mean it , he didn't hit him hard, blah, blah, blah.

Its hard to think there isn't some sort of vendetta for the club when it appears that only our guys are character assasinated in the media for things other clubs do.

Look at Rance / Grimes, name anyone else who has received that attention for the media for putting mayo on something??

Think David Schwarz summed it up pretty well that if he keeps up the niggle someone will line him up as he aint no Dermie ,Bazza Hall or Plugger who could take a hit.

David Schwarz?
The Sam guy that got creamed pied in the face by Sam Newman on the footy show?

Always laugh how some ex players puff their chest out and suddenly become these tough guys.

We are no doubt an easy target - the media are smart enough to know that opposition supporters hate us, and so target us knowing that it will generate a heap of discussion. No point targeting North or Dogs for example as no one would give a *smile*.

If you go into the ruck to get a kick you,re doing ruck wrong
I definitely did ruck wrong. That bit when the 100kg bloke jumps into you, not much fun. But as you said they can't play, and as I said, they can't run. So it's easy to get a kick if you like that sort of thing.

The corkies that took you until thursdsy night to recover, the leg scraped raw from studs, the thuds from wildly swinging arms, stray elbows and head crashes. It made you feel alive.
I miss those days

Anyone see examples of elbows, shoves, blocks, scragging, etc. given to Lynch that the umpires missed? I don't condone what he did but these incidents don't happen in isolation. They happen when forwards feel they have no option but to deal with the unfair tactics themselves because the umpires don't help them.
The animosity between Lynch and his opponent often starts before the ball is even bounced, lots of bravado push and shove that the AFL could eliminate if they had the will, but they haven't. That's what they need to fix asap.

This.

If the AFL were serious about stopping Lynch and other forwards (grudgingly probably even Hawkins) from giving defenders a little whack then they need to stop the niggling when it contravenes the rules. Forwards get held - there's a rule for that, pay the bloody free kick or rescind the holding the man rule.

If the AFL said they were going to pay free kicks for holding or impeding forwards (I'll make the point again, there is no rule change needed to implement this) then a lot of this crap would stop after the first couple of gifted goals are conceded.

Plus, I'm sure our defenders do their fair share of niggling, holding, pushing etc and I'm sure they get a few whacks back for their trouble. Where is the coverage of this?

Its not netball.
I dont want to see defenders standing next to opponents and reaching across without touching.

If there is niggle, if there is aggro, if there are grwn adult men getting upset then play on.
I dont mind bumping when the ball is in play.
Its called body positioning.

Where I draw the line is the jumper punches (thankfully stopped) and cheap stuff after play eg after goals or out of bounds.
The sport that does it best is rugby union - hard at it, but respectful of opponents and umpires

Watching AFL 360 you would think Lynch was Jack the Ripper. I find the tearing down of Lynch quite irresponsible. Not to mention a crock of dog poo.
Just watched it later on. Found it interesting. When they rolled the footage it really made me notice how in the aftermath of the 'incident', when Witts comes in to remonstrate, he comes up behind Tom who senses he's coming and quickly turns and defends himself. They both jumper punch and scuffle (and this is when Tom's 2nd fine occurs). But doesn't Witts turning up create the likelihood of starting a melee, isn't that a breach of AFL rules?
But also, while these two are engaging, Collins whacks Tom with two similar blows around the body from behind, similar to what Tom is so guilty of apparently (1st fine).

Then Gerard and Robbo put up a slide of all RFC's fines and offences and say things like 'playing unsociable footy', 'it must be deliberate', and Robbo saying it was the sign of a premiership team who have become arrogant.

Later JR8 comes on as their guest to chat about Indigenous round etc. I found it rather embarrassing or demeaning for him although not sure he saw the preamble. However, GW and MR tried to be all matey, Jack didn't seem that warm in the context. However, he presented his usual affable self, chatted amiably. Then GW sprung the question to him on the sly about our 'terrible' record of misdemeanors again. JR defused it well but it all just felt like another media ambush on the club while pretending that they were just doing fair and proper analysis. Thought it was a heap of BS myself.

But then they showed the incident where Jack was contacted high and copped a bloody nose and cut eye. Again Jack handled it mildly, saying how he had to get stitches for the near-eye cut, just thought he might have received a free and so on. I actually wondered how it happened and had meant to go back and look at this incident again.

They then showed it for me in slow-mo. It was bloody Collins who swiped him hard across the head after he had marked the ball!

By my count, Collins has got away with at least 3 gut-punches or attempted plus a dangerous late swinging arm to an opponent's head in all this.

But he's the poor victim! What a crock of BS. I'm really starting to think we are the subject of a media witch-hunt.

Great get ToO. In fairness though, he didn't hit him as well as he hit the concrete pillar in the rooms.

Collins was at him all night behind the ball. Niggling non stop. Yet, he gets the universal admiration from the footy public because he was pissed off in the rooms. Spare me. The prick is a self righteous piece of *smile*.

So Schwarz reckons he would grab Lynch by the throat. I don't recall Schwarz being a scary unit. He meekly went along with it when the bookies had him by the balls.

Think a few people are under-estimating the amount of 'go' in our Tom. He enjoys hurting people.

Loves it! I can't bring myself to get upset at the idea of having a genuine gorilla in our forward line who doesn't mind putting some hurt on his opponents. Have at it Tom!

Rucks are where the real sport is.
Hard ferocious no holds barred contest where 2 big lumps run into each and then do it again.
And again. The grind.

I went to CHB if I wasnt big enough for the contest.
Or CHF if I wanted to run around in circles

You blokes are funny.
There is only one part of the ground that's called the men's department, and it ain't the mids or forwards!!

Yep we always seem to be the one giving away the free kick away, yet with our forwards it’s a ‘free for all’. We get nada. Our forwards have to be ‘’murdered’ to get one.

There is definately a pattern emerging with the media this year. Take the Port game. The commentators were so drunk on Port they never realised there was another team out there.

Then came the Dusty shove in the side that wasn't paid. Holly crucifixion!

The media know exactly what they are doing.

I love it. I love that we have a bad boy. A villain. I love that everyone has us in their target. It's what I dreamed of when we were meek and rollovers.

As long as we're the winners, who's having the last laugh?

I know I've said this before, but can you imagine anyone chesting and buffeting Ablett or Lockett or Carey. Not only would your collarbone be in 12 pieces, they'd then drill 12 through the middle. It's sad these days.

lockett was the best at pure fear factor.
Defenders knew that they could put him off his game, but if it went one step too far, lockett would send them home in an ambulance.
Lockett would be the only player to play at other club that I actually like.
Wayne Jackson & Ross Oakley got him to Sydney.
When he already Signed for us

We see many touchy free kicks given , maybe if the umps who stand right beside the pushing an shoving started payin frees , these things wouldn’t be such an issue and all the report talk we’d get the arse , bottom line we don’t want players missing finals for these types of things

he will be back at Weribee soon enough.
Not sure why he getting all this ‘hero’ status after the game.
What he showed was a total disregard of the team.
His team mates were upstairs in a meeting and he was downstairs having a sook and punching walls.
