The AFL couldn’t wait to ditch us - let’s hope we can turn it around to just shove their noses in it
good post. I used to make fun of my Rugger friends when they didn't know the rules, and now I struggle for words to explain ours.
Just call out the obvious ones and if unsure let the game go on.Generally much harder to pick out the frees now, players have become adept at blurring the lines with defensive tactics.
Surprised they didn’t shift the Geelong game to Cat Park.Well the AFL has lost interest in us, with new fixturing out, another two Sunday time slots which will make it 3 from 4 if you include the Collingwood game.
That said we don't deserve Prime Time but the AFL enjoying screwing us with all these Sunday games ain't ideal.
AFL don't do the fixturing - Ch7 does.Well the AFL has lost interest in us, with new fixturing out, another two Sunday time slots which will make it 3 from 4 if you include the Collingwood game.

No chanceI used to follow the footy a fair bit, watching scores, snippets of other games etc. Now, I couldn't give a stuff what happens to any team that isn't the Tigers.
Rule changes I think are just stupid. Absolutely pathetic sports media. Gil the Dill and so much more is wrong with AFL in 2021.
Basketball is now my number one most enjoyed sport. Kinda sad...
Hate the word. But absolutely nobody was calling for wholesale changes to the game until April 2018. Crowds were at a ten-year peak and growing. They grew again in 2018 even after the media did its best to talk down the state of the game. And again in 2019.It is hard not to subscribe that it is all a conspiracy.
I don’t mind day games , not all of us like Friday nights , pain in the neck if you come in from the burbsWell the AFL has lost interest in us, with new fixturing out, another two Sunday time slots which will make it 3 from 4 if you include the Collingwood game.

It’s a very good point you know , whingers cried about state of the game were invariably blues or Ess fans who’s teams sucked , like listening to a celibate person tell you sex is overrated . Yet the metrics that the meatheads at the afl chose to ignore would indicate that the game was indeed in great shape . FF a few years and crowds are dwindling and honestly I wouldn’t bet on them coming back in a hurry unless they revert to $10 tickets and the greedy pricks won’t like thatHate the word. I remember Rance (?) saying after the 2017 GF that Richmond was going to get better, that we had a method of playing that was foolproof, and thinking it was throwaway talk after achieving the ultimate. Half-expected us to fall back down the ladder like the Bulldogs did. But he was obviously right, we did improve and were dominant for most of the season. Clearly Scott perceived our style of play as undesirable and articulated as much; the unspoken perception among the AFL and media was that Richmond was bringing the game down as a spectacle (Andy Maher actually said it). Reckon Scott, Hocking and others saw the writing on the wall and knew the only way to prevent Richmond attracting imitators was to change the game itself. Hence the mess we have now.

Agree. I keep saying it every time they introduce something new. Leave the game alone!!!!This is the bit I really don't get. The game was very successful, so why change it? I presume the ratings were pretty damned good too.
How can you keep your job when you screw up something which is succeeding?
But you hear it from the media all the time - oh, the AFL want to make this change or that change but it won't be popular with the fans. Well, why the f*** would you want to make changes which are unpopular with your customer base? Idiocy.

In view of attendances being at record levels , the afl position that the game demanded change was patently absurd. There are several factors behind dwindling crowds , the constant change and manipulation of the game is one that just can’t be ignored , it will be thoughThis is the bit I really don't get.
