…little things that annoy you, geez, I’ll resist the temptation to go alphabetically.
People like my wife who despite knowing better through past experiences continue to throw shorts and trousers into the washer willy-nilly without first checking their kids’ pockets like those of my son for papers, tissues, sweets wrappers because not only do other people like me have to suffer through the repetitive pantomime of astonishment that some people like my son would dare leave such garbage in their pockets but other people like me also have to spend afternoons picking off tiny specs of soggy paper from entire washing loads.

Sounds like your wife is trying to get you to take over washing duties glantone.
Reminds me of a bully when I was a shearers cook many years ago. He tried to take advantage of my shyness and naivety by insisting part of the cook's duties was to do his washing. He was a bit of a ringleader of the yobbos and used to really put me down to get a laugh out of them.
I got sick of it and eventually said I'd do his washing. I put it in the trough and poured white king all over it. Of course it came out covered with bleached stripes and splotches. I feigned innocence and told him I thought it needed soaking first. It was good to hear the laughter at his expense for a change.
