Leon Cameron quits as GWS coach

I remember watching the Amazon documentary “Making Their Mark” not that long ago and being struck by how poor a communicator Cameron was to his players. Admittedly, they were struggling at the time but not one player looked engaged with what he was saying, none more so than Jeremy Cameron who left at the end of that season.

Anyway, nine years with that list and no premierships. Not sure he’ll be getting a second chance anytime soon.
Living in North NSW I know that even making the GF in 2019 was huge for their profile. Put em on the map. Compared to the Suns, the way the Giants maintain high draft picks is also praiseworthy.
I did like Leon as a player. Don't know what his future holds. Be work there for him somewhere. Probably not coaching at the highest level

Not the best coach …but not the worst by any stretch either.

Give him credit, he pulled the pin professionally and without fuss. He sort of indicated he was a bit worn out and maybe needed a spell.

Good on him. He at least didn’t keep hanging around and maybe being an imposition. Some coaches can’t see the forest for trees but at least LC did and went out on good, professional terms. Think that’ll come back to benefit him in time.

Spoke to a bloke who used to manage a certain teams day to day affairs, and he said Cameron was the most ordinary bloke he’d come across in his job. Arrogant and rude
id dispute that
i worked with Bakes the whole time he was at the Tigers, he was never arrogant or rude, far from it,
He was very well liked that i seen

maybe that bloke didnt like Bakes

I never believed this was true. I think Eade also denied it was him.

It's him but it's a couple of comments from a whole game and then it's been spliced and looped so they can add more swearing in.

If you had the headset on all season you'd hear something like that at least once from nearly everyone I suspect. One of our former assistant coaches used to sound like that all game, every game.

x2, I'd say he would be about the least arrogant or rude person I've met in footy. Has a nice country manner about him.

Munson could sue him now.
Eade , when coaching the Swans invited a group of AFL level 1 coaches into the rooms after the for a preseason game to hear a post match debrief
he then later came back to us as a group and spoke to the whole days process from a coaching perspective
then at a dinner that night when to each table and chatted
all that was voluntary , he came across as very decent and grounded person
I later heard from the Bulldogs camp that players did have a fear of Eade

Minson was something , he could look like a 4th grader and then take 3 contested marks in 5 mins and slot all 3

Minson - "*smile* you Will, ya big spastic" lol

I would have Cameron at Richmond if Kingsley got the job at GWS. Cameron is my all time favourite player to come from another club alongside Townsend & Lynch & Caddy & Prestia..
He couldn't be any worse then the doofus from Carlton.

the doofus from Carlton and leon would make the coaching panel too old IMO.
