King & Hislop Suspended

Since coming back into the side when Rawlings took over, King's disposal has been one of the best in the team in terms of effective disposals
Only had one from 17 ineffective (93%) against the Pies when the team average was about 56%, this isn't a once off either
From memory he had one or two bad ones, but even then was no worse than the team average on the day

Don't let facts get in the way of a good story, the mob wants a lynchin'...............

FFS, at least they have some mongrel in them.
Richmond have been the biggest bunch of girls in the last 15-20 years.

Whilst their actions were misguided at least they showed a pulse out there

:clap

and as far as any skills issues raised in other posts, a new coach should be able to correct that IMO.

Also looking at the melee... The Pies started it ! 3 jumped King when King was making a legitimate tackle on Didak, who was trying to go around King.. !
I just don't get this bias misrepresentation of fact in the media.

Who do you think the winner is

The Tigers get -

King - 2 weeks' suspension
Hislop - 1 week's suspension
10 players fined $1,200 for a melee
Lose big by 93 points
14th on the ladder

Whereas Collingwood get -

10 Players fined $1,200 for a melee
Big win by 93 points
3rd on the ladder
Finals bound
Premiership contender

We are a rabble and beyond a joke............

Well put.

FFS, I want a team with skills and endeavour at the ball, who run in packs, protect their teammates and provide geniune options to kick to rather than a bunch of blokes better served playing country or suburban football with a bit of mongrel in them.

If we could get the TEAM to play with the intent and mindset of Hislop and King then we would have no use for Hislop or King on our list.

As far as the biffo goes, I have no problem with it. Brings back memories of a better time when mateship and sticking up for mates was more important than being polically correct. I hope it continues and the Richmond v Collingwood rivalry of old revives. Be good to see 80,000 plus at the G with the two teams going hard at it and the football world looking at Richmond as a team to be respected and feared on the field for our intensity and aggressiveness. The only thing wrong with the melee is that we lost by 90 points. If we had come back and won we would worshipping King and Hislop for bringing the passion back to the Tigers.

Good point.

How influential would players like King and Hislop be in helping this kind of attitude filter through the group?

It is the coach's responsibility, but without players setting the example it would fall on deaf ears.

They magive their teammates confidence to duck in a little harder. You can't just tell everyone to "have an intimidating mindset - or else", you need to let it develop inside them. I think you do this by making the weaker players feel "left out" when they see everyone around them doing these hard things all the time, and if they don't do it, their teammates give them a look.

But it only works if everyone is doing the hard things. Otherwise when teammates give them a look, they're reaction is "well (blah blah) isn't doing it, *smile* off."

Atm I think our club's attitude is the latter, and has been for years.

You need to do a lot more than just throwing in a couple of tough guys though.
