Kane McAuliffe

The reports from people watching the lad at the weekend and before, he is far too good for VFL so I want to see him get a block of games at senior level to see how he progresses. If Dow can get a good run of games to show what he has (showing little) then Kane is earning his go.

It was interesting to see Mcauliffe lining up against Sanders yesterday. They went head to head on quite a few occasions.

Sanders got a lot more ball on the outside.

That’s probably where Kane needs to focus on . Look for some easier uncontested ball.

Kane will win more
outside ball when he increases his gut running work rate. Tends to cruise around at times which is his only weakness.

Didn’t he have a massive pre season, was super fit, and even finished in the top 10 or so in one of the time trials ?

All reports were that he is super professional.
They also said they needed to adjust his body shape aka turn him into an injury prone skinny flanker :eyes

I don't have any problem with holding McAuliffe back and playing him main midfield man in the AVL. Putting him up at this point would not change the AFL results and could stem his development.

Different story if Taranto, Hopper and Prestia were in there injury free. You could ease McAuliffe in if that was the case.
Good post. Reckon this is exactly what's happening.

Looking forward to seeing how Kane goes tomorrow. He was so impressive in his first game before rolling his ankle against the Saints. Form good last week at VFL level. Give those Lions hell young fella.

Well hes certainly in for some education against Dunkley, McCluggage, Berry and Neale thats for sue will be exciting to see how he handles it.

And a Mykelti special folding Up of Zorko would also be most pleasing.

This is an interesting player. We have to give him a run this week. In an ideal world he develops in our academy but, eh- the kid's gotta play.

Morris on VFL R7-

Kane McAuliffe (25 disposals, 15 contested possessions, four rebound-50s, four inside-50s, 10 tackles, seven clearances, two goals)

Kane had a big impact on the game offensively and he also had a game-high 10 tackles. He still has a few things standing out in his game that he needs to work on, but he's a really professional kid who's made a great start to life at Tigerland and will certainly get to work at doing so.”

We'll find out what he has to work on by the end of the year. It looks to me like dangerous areas and chasing. Time will tell.

Got better as game went. Not super quick so will need to develop a huge tank to be elite. Looks more likely than any of the younger players to succeed though
