Joe Daniher

Lets face it though melbournes picks are akin to ours pre Francis Jackson.

2007 - Cale Morton, Jack grimes, Adam Maric, Kyle Cheyney
2008 - Jack Watts, Sam Blease, James Strauss
2009 - Scully, trengrove, Gysbets, Tapscott
2010 - Lucas Cook, Jeremy Howe, troy davis
2011 - Rory taggert

Not much return for a lot of mediocrity. Grimes, Blease, Howe & Trengrove.

If GWS and GCS dont go after Viney they have only a 50/50 chance of drafting a couple of stars.

On the Daniher front. He is the kind of player the dogs really need. Big test for Brendan McCartney to see if he shafts a mate and goes for their player.

So what? Essendon are resigned to the fact anyway, that they will have to use their 1st rounder to get him via the father/son bidding process.

trouble is Essendon desperately also require elite midfield grunt to support Watson and they already have Ryder, Hurly and perhaps Gumbleton starting to come good. Interesting to see which way they go

They'll go Daniher and will also go hard for Caddy.

I have no idea why Melbourne's compo picks are immune from the bidding. Anyone? A pick's a pick, surely. That way they'd probably get him for pick 13, which would be fair all round.

The only picks that are relevant to father son selections are based on where you finish on the ladder not compensation selections.

You are supposed to use emoticons when you are taking the you know what.

your right STK, just not sure how they can land both if Daniher is comitted to Daniher. Can see them coming away red faced again.

We can only hope...the 'red faces' will be the result of the karma train hitting them front on for draft tampering and landing Kavanaugh last year.

Otherwise the Bombers will have no choice but to trade a good player or 2 to land Caddy.

I was reading Bomber Blitz earlier today and someone was speculating or at least hoping that no club would nominate Joe Daniher with their first pick. How likely is that, that Essendon could get Daniher via father-son and still keep their first pick? Surely one of the clubs that finish beneath them, even Richmond, would nominate Daniher just to make sure this doesn't happen? Essendon couldn't get Daniher plus a top ten pick could they?

The same person probably also posts on a science forum that the earth is flat.
Joe Daniher is a certainty to be nominated in the first round.

Geez I just had a look at his highlights. What a prospect. Absolutely love the way he marks the ball. Almost every mark he takes his hands are waaay above his head and every mark is one touch. Vice hands. Very tidy left foot for an ultra-tall. I'm sure I'll hate him for many years to come.

Shame they need a midfielder. :hihi

Bombers fans are still dreaming that no one will nominate him and that they ill get him for their second pick.

I mean, I have seen some delusional stuff on here, but seriously.

They can't do that as F/S nominations are done before trade week.

There’s nothing stopping Melb making an agreement with GWS before trade week that if they don’t bid on Viney Melb will trade pick 3 in the U17 mini draft.

Melb

U17 MD - Hogan/Martin,

pick 4, Toumpas/O’Rouke

pick 13, - Stringer/Garlett/Kennedy

Pick 23 -Viney

Its a big win for Melb and a big win for GWS who will have 1, and 3 (plus maybe 2 if GCS trade) in the ND.

It effectively means Melb getting Hogan/martin for a 2nd round pick.

That doesn't mean that Gold Coast won't make a bid for him though.

I think both GC and GWS should be making the bid and force the Dee's to use one of their 1st rounders.

Just like the Bombers should be forced to use their 1st rounder for Daniher.

F/S nominations are made before the ND so that agreement can't happen.

Melb and GWS can agree before F/S and trade week to do the deal. Clubs do talk about deals before actual trade week.

F/S bids - GWS pass

Trade week - Melb trade pick 3 to GWS for mini draft pick as already agreed.

The clincher will be if GC deal pick 2 to GWS for mini draft pick 1.

from what i here about joe daniher they can keep him ,all about him not a team player.

Won't happen. It literally will not happen. GC are able to nominate Viney as well.

2 clubs would not make such an agreement like that.

I think we need to take a turn at the wheel here and nominate Daniher. Essendon can't be allowed to get him in the 2nd round.
