I was reading Bomber Blitz earlier today and someone was speculating or at least hoping that no club would nominate Joe Daniher with their first pick. How likely is that, that Essendon could get Daniher via father-son and still keep their first pick? Surely one of the clubs that finish beneath them, even Richmond, would nominate Daniher just to make sure this doesn't happen? Essendon couldn't get Daniher plus a top ten pick could they?

Daniher will get nominated for a first round. Essendon fans are just delusional after yesterday's game.

Yep, both Daniher and Viney should both get nominated so the Bombers will have to use their first pick and the Dee's will have to use one of their first rounders for Viney.

I would be happy for the tigers to nominate for Viney - if not matched by the dees then he would be a "good pick 9" if thats what we end up with. Not sure he is a top 5 though, thats the issue for the dees will need to work through.

Also same would go for Daniher I would suspect, although I assume that the tigers would want to add more midfield depth as a priority before a KPP.

And you think that even sounds plausible?
I'm sure some side will make them use their first round pick.

Only GWS and GC can nominate Viney. The fees also don't have to use their compo picks. So We have to hope GWS and GC think he is worthy of a top 3 pick.

That's right. For the Dee's to use one of their first round picks to get Viney, one of the teams that finish below them on the ladder (which should be GWS and GC) will have to put a first round bid for him.

If GWS or GC don't bid and a team that finishes above the Dee's on the ladder puts a 1st round bid for Viney, the Dee's will be able to use their 2nd rounder to snag him.

Hence the Dees beating GWS yesterday.

And they say tanking doesn't happen. Both GWS and GC are determined to out-tank Melbourne in 2012.

Melbourne will get a bargain if they land Viney in the 2nd round. 3 first round picks plus Viney in the 2nd round will given them some great players.
I think Port will make Essendon use their first pick on Daniher.

We have to hope and pray that Melbourne gets busted for tanking and receives their right whack. But that would require Demetriou to show integrity, principles and a willingness to stand up to match fixing and corruption...so there is no chance.

And the biggest one, admit that he was wrong

They haven't tanked this year and have simply underachieved.

No but they are about to reap a bountiful harvest this year due to past tanking

I reckon the Dees will trade away pick 3 (maybe gws mini draft) and their first pick where they will be forced to use a selection to get viney will be their 2nd rounder.

they could get a 17yr old with pick 3 then pick 4 and other scully first rounder and then viney pick in 2nd rnd.

please lord do them over for tanking.

They can't do that as F/S nominations are done before trade week.

I have no idea why Melbourne's compo picks are immune from the bidding. Anyone? A pick's a pick, surely. That way they'd probably get him for pick 13, which would be fair all round.
