Jake Aarts

Aarts reminds me of a younger Kane Lambert - Has skill limitations but makes the most of himself and slowly and continually improves.

Yep it took quite a few to rate Kane also.

Jake doesn't have Kane's running ability. He's also only three years younger, so the 'younger Lambert' you're comparing him to is the one who finished 2nd in the 2018 JD a year after finishing 3rd in a flag year (albeit robbing Chimp). And yes, Jake has had less exposure to the top flight than Kane had at the same age. But there's a reason for that.

I don't see him as a premiership player, but a valuable premiership squad member, which is long past due for recognition by the AFL.

He's got incredible core strength. If you parked a car on top of him he'd stand up in the middle of it.

Yep strong over the ball and holds his ground in the contest.

Reckon we go double midget assult and release big bad bustling baker and dark arts in the middle against the Bears. Add marlion, fridge and RCDC and the bears won't know what hit them.

Exactly what I was going to say. It took me longer than I’d like to admit to notice how good Lambert had become in 2017.

Aarts is improving in similar fashion.

I've been critical in the past, but gee I love his endeavour. Won't die wondering. Well done Aartsy. There's a few who played tonight who could do with watching his highlights.

I love that he's getting front and square at marking contests inside 50. And you can't fault his desire, toughness and endeavour.

Be nice if he could run, though.

Yep was one of our better players again. Strong over the ball and in a contest. Surprised wasn't used in the midfield tonight.

Agree. Thought he did well in the middle last week. Showed something but we didn't even try it tonight

The only knock on him is lack of leg speed, but I’ll take his consistent effort as a trade off. Perhaps MRJ could be a better small forward partner.
Yep shame he doesnt have Georges pace, and a shame George doesnt have Jakes abilty to kick at goal.

By far our most dangerous small forward in front of goal.

He has his faults but I reckon he has improved his positioning for getting crumbs off packs. Yep, not fast, but seems to be nearer the ball than a few of our faster players.

I have certainly been at the point of thinking he should be dropped a number of times, but Aarts is improving - taking a few marks, getting some crumbing goals.

Aarts is doing his job, something not all of our players are doing.
