Jack Ross

Another really solid game tonight from Jack. Loved his vision and smarts to spot blokes up inside 50.

He didn't really play a role i.e. attend centre bounces that would see him in many contested situations.
I don’t really buy that. He was at enough stoppages around the ground and had enough opportunity to involve himself in more contests in general play than just 3 from 21 possessions.

That seems to be his modus operandi. High uncontested style.

I agree with Leysy, coming along nicely and was really clean tonight.

I agree with Reds, would like to see him get dirty more. A tackle every now and then (19 in 14 games this year, 0 tonight. That's not many). When midgets like Merrett are walking out of stoppages it's not a bad ploy to squash them.

Maybe. He 100% had a more outside starting position i.e. Graham's role though.

Like to see his centre clearance numbers.

Either way, he's improving, is now a class above VFL, is starting to believe he belongs at AFL level.

Leysy has confidence he'll contribute when played. That wasn't the case until the back half of this year.

Building.

Yeah he’s building. I agree with that. But he’d build better and quicker and not find himself in and out of the team so much if he worked on the contested side of his game a bit more and got a bit dirtier.

Career average of just 4.6 contested per game. Only about 25% of possessions. Plenty of scope for improvement, especially with that build.

In finals intensity he will be a liability, guaranteed. Yeah he got lucky to be on the end of a few but he was cooked by the second half in a meaningless game which turned into a training drill after 2 quarters. Yes sheds had a great career but he is cooked. We will be playing one down next week after half time and I fear it will cost us a final
To a considerable extent Shedda himself would agree with this. He said he wasn't going to be any more value than a young gun next year. And it's only 4 games from now to next season.
Finals requires tough calls.

Great game by Ross and was stiff to be dropped last week. Thought he should have been used more in the guts to help relieve Cotch a bit more. Must start in the first final.

Still uncontracted. Wonder what will happen there whether he'll be retained or traded? I hope he stays but could see him getting a better deal elsewhere.
He's in week 1 finals after that performance.

Geez I hope not ToO. That would be a disaster considering the lack of midfielders we have coming through. Thought he was huge last night.

Played well and is improving which is all you can ask for.

Should he play the EF?

My honest opinion is I hope not.

Who does he keep out?

We have Dusty and Graham to return. Dimma hinted that Graham is a ‘finals’ player and that he recovers well from injury.

I also think Stack is firmly in the mix as a genuine utility. Forward, back, limited midfield, x factor.

So no - I hope Ross doesn’t make it. Not because he is rubbish, but because I want our best and most skilled 23 to contest the EF.

Ross and George out. If Graham doesn’t get up, Stack. Baker to support midfield. Edwards sub. Finals are played in a telephone box and that’s where shed lives.

Loved his game played his role exceptionally, however that’s what is expected when you play against an opposition that puts no time into 2 way running . Excellent step none the less

There is zero chance Syd plays week 1 of finals ahead of Ross.

Has improved this season, looks like an AFL player now.

I thought Jack's disposal and decision making was close to elite last night.
