Ivan Soldo

Nah, I disagree - Cox didn’t raise his elbow until after contact (see my rant on the MRO thread).

But it’s irrelevant because he intentionally went out of his way to collide with Grimes and he made contact to Grimes’ head with his shoulder. He could have avoided contact but elected to apply a heavy bump and made contact with a part of his body to the other player’s head. Failed in his duty of care and reckless with unduly rough play. ‘Careless’ is an impossible ruling because of his intention to instigate contact to a player looking the other way. Duty of care was 100% his and he hurt the other guy.

I agree Cox should have been rubbed

that twitching eyeball of yours Mac, and this gag

had me laughing out loud.

thanks, I needed that

Disgustingly unjust and inconsistent decision. We and the club need to find a form of protest.

I reckon Frawleydud should stay off the game day thread until we see some consistency and transparency from The AFL

Wouldn't expect anything else from Weakley. I'll bet he was pretty happy GAblett got off.

Protests every single Geelong report. Completely biased, but I really don't think he can see it. Speaks like he believes he is ultra-principled.

Have previously sat out one game in silent protest and it's time for another. No Ivan, no L2R2R this week.

respect!

Dreamtime is a bad week to pick though :p, but respect. The AFL are corrupt incompetent clowns.

They need to take this to court.

Combine this with the precedents, the massive inconsistencies, the free kicks etc and you really wonder what the hell is going on. Why do they continue to shaft their biggest drawcard?

It is time we showed them we have the largest membership, who do we email, how do I set up a bot to email them a few million times?

Have sent an email to the club explaining why and imploring them to explore every channel necessary to obtain a fair outcome.

One of the better posts I’ve ever read here. Great points, well made.

I should’ve added that the MRP is even less effective at executing a clean hit.

8:00 I missed a ruck contest here

12:00 I didn’t see this bounce

2:00 I didn’t see something here, but suspect something good happened at this one

0:40 I tuned out and didn’t see who won the ruck contest.

Was caught napping a bit before halftime, so I might’ve missed something there. Still...

From 12:00 - 7:00 I was out of the room

Do you work for newspoll kid? 8-

So what should we do to get out of congested, predictable ruck contests? Maybe punch the ball forward 30m more often?

Mark Lee used to do this so effectively in the early 80s. Actually the 30m hitout would really benefit our tyle of play.

Loved the post BTW.

Seriously if the medical report indicates it’s low impact - how does he cop a week? Didn’t Ablett get off due to it being low impact in the end?? I’m at a loss.

Abblets was unintentional! Even though he ran off his line to contact a player with his forearms in the middle of the head/head area. (As opposed to the base of the head/neck area Chrisso)

AFL appealed in 2017 against Houli MRP outcome. Are there are options for RFC to take it further, surely. They should use other form defence as new evidence in line with Geelong & Fremantle. Lack of force, no injury. Unintentional. Protecting himself

Let the booing begin whenever Gil gets on the stage/media things at any of our games

FRUSTRATED TIGERS REFUSE TO SPEAK AFTER SOLDO APPEAL
Richmond ruckman Ivan Soldo and football boss Neil Balme left the AFL tribunal without speaking to the media, with the Tigers clearly frustrated they now need to search for a replacement ruck for this week’s Dreamtime at the G clash.

I really reckon something's brewing within the 4 walls.

Think it is appealable on a self defence argument. He was not seeking to strike the Hawthorn player, but rather seeking to protect himself from a reasonably anticipated act of assault. His response was proportional and not excessive.

The Soldo incident was trivial in force even though it was contact "not in play" compared to the Fyfe and two Ablett incidents.
Funnily enough, we argued the potential to cause injury argument out for Martin. We should have argued a case for lowering the force down so he got a fine or charge dropped to insufficient force instead. We could have said the actual and potential impact had low probability to cause damage.

No sympathy for Ivan.
He should never have apologised to the Hawthorn player for elbowing him in the throat.
He should have followed up with standing on his chest as he walked over him.
He'll learn from this fundamental error.

Given the Ablett and Fyfe decisions this is probably the most staggering decision I can recall from the tribunal. It just goes to prove how corrupt and incompetent the AFL is. No reasonable person could argue that Ablett and Fyfe get off yet Soldo gets a week. And no Mince Whateley is not a reasonable person; he is just an AFL mouthpiece biased little *smile*.

Anyway it's done. We won't take it further; it's not how we do it. We're the suffering in silence and we'll sort you out later type. What do we do about the ruck? Bellchambers is no star but he is big and strong and if he is on he can give Essendrugs on ballers first use. Is CCJ up to the task yet? Is he ready to take on a seasoned ruckman in Bellchambers? All we need him to do is break even or thereabouts. What do the PRE VFL watchers think?

Surely CCJ has to play? We can't expect 8 gamer Balta to do it on his own.
