Not for me. Nank is a ruck not a forward, and playing Soldo just means we end up with a witches hat when he's on the ground (how many of those hitouts were to advantage, he was rubbish with that last week (16 hitouts only 2 to advantage last week, Nank was 26 and 9 and was mainly rucking McEvoy). I'm not sure if we can promote Moore but if we can't we need to think of something else. Soldo is only in the team because he's tall, no other reason. The 2 tall forward / ruck strategy has worked for much of the year, we need to go back to it and play another midfielder.

He is miles off but because we been winning on it goes

Soldo had 25 hitouts and wasnt bad.

his job is to release Nanks.

Its not his fault if Nanks does nothing when released.

stays, stays. stays

Don't agree. He was woeful today and a liability. There was a centre bounce in the 3rd quarter (I think) where he turned away from the ball and started walking toward the Cat's ruckman while gesturing to him. It looked like he thought he had a free kick. He didn't. It was not a good look from a professional footballer.
His feet rarely leave the ground. He was in positions today where all he needed to do was take a step forward and put his arms above his head and mark, but he didn't and instead put himself in a bad situation. He doesn't back himself, and he doesn't have a footy brain. He was hardly the lone ranger today in the stinker stakes, but when you're that tall there's no where to hide. To be used only in extreme situations. Find other options for the rest of the year.

Regardless of today's game Soldo is a limited footballer. Low possession (6) lumbering ruckmen who aren't particularly great marks (1.7) don't go far in AFL footy nowadays.

Yes it's great he's gone from nothing to playing AFL but the fact is you want a ruckman who can rest forward (averages 0.1 goal a game)

Yes he still has improvement but realistically he'd have to improve a great deal.

Played a man down with soldo slow lumbering ruckman
Are a massive liability with the speed of todays game

I love the fact we're getting games into him and mostly kept winning, and he didn't disgrace himself today, thought he was OK in the packs, but your big blokes have to take a few big marks. Simple as that. Especially in finals. But having said that, the cupboard is bare.

So do we replace him with a slow lumbering ruckman called Hampson? Hardly an upgrade

No need to play 2 ruckmen who aren't natural forwards. Freo play Darcy (7 games), reckon Nank beats him around the ground. Brennan Cox appears to be their 2nd ruckman and is only 193cm. I'd just play 1 ruck and Jack and go with smalls / mid sizers, particularly as next week is a quick ground.

I didn't expect him to play in the seniors this year, and would have been just fine with VFL development. The fact he has is kudos to him.

Sure he's not ready yet, and will most likely go back to the VFL (I hope) but he's had a taste earlier than a lot here thought.

I agree on all points

Needs to work on his positioning. He was out-bodied too many times

This was a mistake to play 2 lumbering rucks.
Thought Soldo did a few good things but we looked slow today.

If either of them could have taken a mark (Nank 4, Soldo 1. None of them in F50) it would have helped. We got smashed in the air but kept kicking long and high as though we had the ability to out mark them? With Jack only returning why were we not running the ball? He did his best but the constant long kicking to Castagna was really frustrating. Maybe we have got used to winning (sacrilege?) and expected to win so a 14 point loss at the Cattery felt worse than it should.

Was a *smile* bounce by the maggot n I reckon Soldo was expecting it to be recalled, simple mistake from a very inexperienced footballer. Wouldn't be in the seniors just yet if we had a viable big man scenario, but in saying that he's gradually improving his output, albeit off a very low base. Desperately needs another fifty games of ressies n senior footy just to learn how to compete body to body.

I saw that one. The Ump did a totally *smile* bounce that sKewed over the cats ruckmans head.

Ivan assumed, like the rest of us that the umpires were partial, and he would recall it.

obviously him and us were wrong.

He should play to the whistle, but i get why he was resetting on that one.

Obviously Id like more output, but hes been brought in to compete in the ruck to give nank a rest.

against brisbane we all thought it was genius.

all things wont work all weeks. If they did, you'de be undefeated and premiers every year.

i'm in the camp that thinks he has played the last few weeks to give Nank a rest and to get some experience. he may play this week but i cannot see him play come finals.

That was until i realised we are playing the Frockers and not West Coast. :p :p

Against WCE it would possibly be worth a shot but not against Sandilands.

Sandi not playing so no need for 2 ruckman.

Simply needs minimum two, likely three years at VFL level to learn his craft.

His craft overhead is of a lower level suburban footballer.

Drop him for a runner then bring in wither Griff or dare leysy say on Hampson for finals if they cn prove reliance.

He is poor overhead and cannot read the footy in flight Leyser agreed, he needs a lot more work and games VFL put into him.

Has done his job helping to spell Nank but he cant be continued to be carried.
