Ivan Maric

what a leader

what a player

Thought we would be lucky to get a player as good as Stafford.

He is better than Stafford, and approaching Mark Lee status.

Ran his guts out and beat two opponents. Most important player in the team and a big tick for Blair Hartley and the development coaches, has improved a heap. Star

A mans man playing a mans game

Mark Lee in a mullet.

lol. Yeah, "The Lieutenant". Gold.

Seriously though, Captain Blood would be smiling down on a Richmond ruckman for the first time in 20 years.

No higher praise than that.

Feel sorry for him after last night.

Subject to 2 highly contentious umpiring decisions which affected the outcome of the game.

Will be hurting after giving away the subsequent 50m penalty.

IMO he is close to elite but he will be even better after this.

He is our only tall who looks like taking a mark at the moment. We would be screwed if he went down

Did his All Australian chances no harm last night, still the competition's most influential ruckman so far this year.

Renouf went to Port Adelaide for pick 33. Big Ivan cost us 37.

And people thought we had paid overs!

Awesome again last night. Impossible not to love him.

He's not a cult hero. He's a folk hero. "The People's Mullet". LOL, Colonel. Opposition students idolise him.

Did he shade the Natanui/Cox combination? He beat Bellchambers and Ryder. And ya know, he was gettin beat there for a while. He's got the rare thing - indomitable. And inspiring.

:inlove

Another huge game from Ivan. The single most important player on our list right now. Would hate to think what might happen if he goes down and we lose him for multiple weeks.

Best pickup for a long, long time...

No doubt if he went down with injury for a few weeks it would hurt us as he is undoubtedly our best ruckman. However there was some interesting reports in The Age last weekend in regards to how his presence around the club has had the added bonus of greatly lifting the standard of the rest of our ruck stocks, with Angus Graham and Andrew Browne mentioned in particular.

Angus was the one they seemed most excited about where they said he is finally starting to consistently dominate games at VFL seniors level, which has never been the case even when he was playing regular firsts games at AFL level. Seems a classic example of a bloke being gifted games too early when he clearly wasn't ready, due purely to the lack of any better options. I mean I've always felt Gus is developing into a big strong unit, is very tall but also just importantly he is quite well muscled up for his height (ie not a 7 foot pip ecleaner).

Is it possible that having to regularly compete against a tough as nails bloke like big Ivan during the preseason has been a great educational experience where Gus has finally learned how to use the tools he has on his side. Hopefully the same goes for big Andrew Browne too. Although to me he doesn't look quite as well built for his height as Ivan and Gus. He certainly does have a bit of mongrel in him though. So hopefully some time with Ivan, our other rucks and the coaching staff can harness that.

Finally on this front, haven't heard too much about - the porn star - Tom Dyreckxxxxx. Any news on him??

Maybe he's like Samson. If he ever cuts the mullet he will lose his powers...

Lucky Delilah hasn't played ruck against him so far this year, Blade. Josh Fraser is the worry. ;D
