Ivan Maric

Forcast is for rain , so might bring in a small TV anf Griff to ruck .
Maybe Thomas might get an upgrade if it's really wet .

Ivan's footy would improve a lot if he could attempt a starjump. (Nobody expects him to get it right first time.)

Shaun may be a Hampervan. Ivan is a Loserbago.

So that's what the Eevan was trying when he got the GWS player with a throat blow. Practicing the arm action in preparation for a star jump. Guess for the big blokes it's a slow progression getting all the limbs coordinated n working together at the same time.

I think he's frustrated, TM. And fair enough. His worst form is too frequent and horrific. We should drop him but it's possible that Hampson really is the better value to us from here. And that Hampson needs rest. (Is that knee degenerative?)

I think the rest of our season hinges on better ruck performances. At least we've got some competition for the spot now. And a bloke who can touch the ball at the CBs.

I know Ivan looks slow, ok, he is slow but he has a big engine and gets to every stoppage.
His contested work and possessions is outstanding, as good as anyone in the competition for mine.

Agreed. Does a power of work inside stoppages. Throws his weight around and provides a good block for the inside mids. He's also smart with his positioning, often turning up in the right spot to impact an aerial contest.
But he just doesn't get his hand on the ball in a ruck contest when he's up against the athletic/tall types. And his contested marking seems a little down this year.

I can't argue with that, other than I don't think his marking has been too bad.

Eeevaaahn has reached declared whipping boy status with at least one PRE favourite, who was even referring to him as 'The Witness' on the weekend. He sure had a front-row view of a lot of blokes playing footy.

Hardwick's crunched the numbers of Sandy vs Maric and it does not compute. He was pretty much flogged in our win over them at Subi.
Hampson might not beat Sandy either but he'll even out the contest at stoppages. Whether that translates to a win though will be interesting.

The thing which really killed us in the match was that Sandi just kept tapping the ball to 6 o'clock where Fyfe was running past. All we needed was to have a player to counter that move, which was also usually anti-clockwise, and their absolutely massive ruck dominance would have been reduced.

Back on track, I would prefer the Hampervan to Maric in this one.

I'll take Hammer against Sandi, and Ivan against Ceglar & Hale. Need an around the ground ruckman against the Hawks.

Yeah, I thought we did okay in the clearances off memory, but the stats prove we were comprehensively smashed. We can only play 1 this year and originally I thought we should pick Ivan, since we could rove to Sandilands (thinking that was what worked last time). But what we should do is pick just Hampson and improve on our biggest weakness from last time - the clearances.

While we could always lose, can you remember a time when we've gone up against the ladder leaders and felt so rightfully confident of a win? Or at least, of it being a close game?

I can't.

The coach agrees. ;D

Hardwick said that Hampson will definitely play, Maric is a fair chance.

Hmmmm...

I think Dimma made it pretty clear who gave Mamster a vote in the coaches award, Tommy. And FWIW I like the way he coaches through the media.
