Is Cuz done?

looks way below his form from last year. that 15m left foot kick straight to the opposition, thats not cuz we knew. keep him around to teach the kids, but at end of year unfortunately i think hes done!

too early so say. it took cuz a while to hit his straps last year. lets revisit this question in 4-6 weeks.

Just like Crawford at the Hawks.

His handballs are still elite and they allow our youngsters to learn to get into smart positions on the field.

Agree ... positioning on the field for support & link up.

I expect he will improve as the year goes on & also believe he will play on next year.

Cuz was good considering his lack of football at any level this year.

One of the few who's disposal forces teammates run into the right spots if you know what leysy means. It doesnt show up in any stats but a massively underrated ability.

Only Cotchin does it as well in our side. Only the true quality do it.

With a clean run Benny will build from here.

SEN has stated this am that the RFC is again emphatically denying the retirement rumours. :asleep

cuz didn't really contribute much at all, prob deserves a chance to build some form with a couple of games in a row for first time in 2010...if no improvement in a few weeks then it could be appropriate to have that talk mid year...For mine it looks unlikely he will turnaround his form, looks to have lost a yard or two in pace bw seasons, called old age for >30s in footy circles

Rumour has it (3AW) he'll be hanging up his boots.

Its unbelievable how these parasites in the media cant wait for Ben to fail.
The media cant wait for the day he retires, or :police: up or gets injured. Its disgusting.

Actually it was a member of the public who rang in and said they will be announcing it today. :spin

Agree. %110. Most of our hospital handballs are straight at the chest standing still. Cousins, Cotchin and Foley put the ball into the spot that will give the guy getting the best chance of moving into space allowing the next kick or handball time. Like a racehorse, Benny needs miles in the legs at game speed. If he can string the next five together we will be looking at a different player. Not what he was but still much value.

He has nothing to play for with us when it is very clear we aren't going to be a contender in the next few years. He is still good enough to get a game in our seniors but this will be his last year. He has proved he could come back which I think has been his main motivation while at Richmond.

Ben Cousins laughs off retirement rumours on Nova 100

Staff writers From: Herald Sun April 27, 2010 9:45AM

BEN Cousins says he is "going along nicely", despite rumours that he is on the verge of retirement from AFL.

Speaking to Hughesy and Kate on his regular Nova 100 slot about the rumour which was suggested on 3AW radio this morning, Cousins playfully said he had something to announce after a commercial break.

When he was back on air, he asked "Is this people willing me to retire?", before sarcastically suggesting that he would not do so before giving Fairfax AFL journalist Caroline Wilson the exclusive.

When he was asked if the rumours annoyed him, Cousins replied: “It is a bit over the top, you can’t let it get you down, I am still pretty buoyant, I have bigger problems."

“I am going along nicely, I am enjoying my footy.

"I probably hit the season a little underdone. I am probably only going to get better as the year goes on.

"We are a young, developing side that I think there is some real progress to be made. I am enjoying the ride.”

Despite Richmond's dreadful start to the AFL season, Cousins said that coach Damien Hardwick was "great" and had "been fantastic" during their torrid opening rounds.

“He is great, he’s been fantastic, he is buoyant," Cousins said.

"For a side that is zero and five, I don’t think that is a true reflection of the buoyancy or the atmosphere within the change room.

"When we started the season we knew where we were at. We were started at the bottom, the only way was forward and that was going to take some time ... There is going to be the odd shellacking.

"There’s some good sides out there. It doesn’t take a hell of a lot to lose by 10 goals.”
