Yet again Hawthorn coach Alistair Clarkson is in the news for his (IMO) appalling lack of control of his anger.

Not once but twice this weekend he's failed to ocntrol his emotions and his mouth. His fisrt transgression was for punching a hole in the coasches box wall. When quizzed about this he makes jokes about getting his dad to fix it. The AFL and Hawthorn don't mention it! Astounding!

Then he tells a 19 yr old to f off at his sons under 9 game! Has this man no idea hot to control himself?

This follows his abuse of a journo at a Tasmanaian Hawks game a few years ago, not forgetting his cowardly attack on Ian Aitken in the 1987 exhibition match in Enlgand. I'm sure there's other trangressions that I've forgotten but seriously, how does he keep getting away with it and when does he recognise he needs some serious help?

Would have loved to have him at Richmond. I still chuckle at the posts on here bragging how we got Wallace and the Hawks were stuck with Clarkson. :hihi

Punching the hole in the wall was nothing imo. It's a very passionate game and he wasn't to know the plaster was weak. Would feel the same if a coach threw a drink bottle in frustration and it accidentally shattered a light bulb. Don't know the context of the swearing but it sounds ordinary and he's apologised. I reckon Clarkson wears his heart on his sleeve and will never have a close enough is good enough attitude. I admire him for it and the success he's brought to the Hawks.

In my experience "wears his heart on his sleeve" is a term used by people just like Clarkson ie angry people who can't control or own their actions.

Clarkson didn't say it though. I used the term and I don't have anger issues or lack of control over my actions.

Just as well or I'd come around and rip ya bloody arms off. :hihi

Not fussed about the plaster damage in the coaches box but the blow up at the U9 lightning premiership is disgraceful.

I've been involved in this junior league and the rules re what runners can and can't do is very clear.

Not saying you lack control over your actions Rosy, I just don't like the term in question being used to excuse peoples poor actions.

They have some issues at the club.
Buddy sould have been given a game or two on the side lines he could have killed someone.
And if it had you and i smashing a wll we would have been charged.

Wasnt he just trying to teach a few of the kids during that under 9's match until some over officiating bloke came over and told Clarkson to get off the ground?

Storm in a tea cup.

What if both incidents involved a player?

FWIW "Mr Clarkson" actually taught at my old school in the early to mid 90s while he was still playing and a nicer bloke you couldn't meet...at least in my experience. He taught grade 5 but had a lot to do with the whole junior school (years 5-7). Always had plenty of time for the kids and I don't remember him ever losing his temper once...and I assure you some of us students and the classes/year levels as a whole he had to deal with would've pushed some Buddhist monks over the edge. Pretty good sense of humour too. I hear these stories of him reaching through the driver's window of other motorists' cars and throwing their Melways across the road etc. and I can't help but laugh (even though it's not really funny). These "he's actually a really nice guy if you meet him in person" stories are a dime a dozen but he really was. Perhaps it's just in certain situations. I'm not necessarily comparing him to Barry Hall but Brett Kirk once famously said he'd trust Barry Hall with his kids but he just couldn't trust him not to do his nana on the footy field...
