What on earth has Colina actually done to have a back issue!! Guy has been on the list for about 4 years for about 2 ressies appearances. What is the point of this experiment? Go and get an athletic freak from the Gaelic system and then persist with that. Ridiculous

LOL he has only been at the club 18 months

think maybe calm the farm as he is just a Cat B Rookie thats not taking anybodys position and we can actually take another cat b if we wanted. Very high risk but high reward spots

Injury Report: Round 3, 2023

Get the latest injury update ahead of Friday night's clash with Collingwood at the MCG.

Dustin Martin, hamstring awareness

"We made the decision during the game to take Dustin off the ground, given his injury history and the six-day break. We're just going to monitor how he recovers off the game and make a decision on Wednesday and see if he gets through training with regards to playing this week."

Jayden Short, calf

"Jayden's been battling a bit of a calf problem on and off for the last couple of weeks. We're going to make a decision now to not play him this week and get him to do some strong rehab training on it, and get himself right for the rest of the season."

Jacob Hopper, knee

"It was pretty ugly, he's actually pretty lucky. Jacob's experienced a little bit of joint soreness in his knee and we're going to monitor him on Wednesday and see how he recovers and make a decision. He's probably doubtful at this stage, but we'll see how he is on Wednesday."

Tom Lynch, corky

"Lynch copped a pretty heavy knock. Given how important he is to us and his limited prep, we thought it would be best to get scans. But, he's okay and he'll be available this week."

Tom Lynch kicks three goals to help the Tigers on their way to beating the Crows in Adelaide.
Robbie Tarrant, hip

"Robbie had a really good session on Saturday morning and seems to have turned the corner. We'd like to give him a couple of good weeks of training before we play him, but we're getting some improvement and hopefully he'll be available in the next week or two."

Ivan Soldo, foot

"Unfortunately, he's developed a little bit of plantar fasciitis, given how big and heavy he is. We're going to make sure we get this right and in unavailable for the short-term at this stage, possibly medium-term."

Josh Gibcus, hamstring

"Josh is over the issues he had with his wound now. He's slowly progressing and is coming along really well. We'll have more of an update in a couple of weeks once he starts running a bit faster."

Tom Brown, wrist
"Tom's been training non-contact. He has an appointment with his specialist next week and will probably get another scan on his arm, and hopefully he'll get good news and he'll be available next week or the week after."

Kaleb Smith, foot
"(He's progressing) really well. He's running outside. It's still early days (but) he's building a base again and we'll have a bit more of an update in a couple of weeks."

Seth Campbell, groin load
"Seth's going really well, he's back into training. As long as he trains really well this week, he'll be available this week to play which will be exciting."

Richmond Injury List:

Available
Tom Lynch, corky

Seth Campbell, groin load

Dustin Martin, hamstring awareness

Jacob Hopper, knee

From an injury management perspective, the decision to play Short against Adelaide was a monumental *smile* up.
Flying over in a plane with existing calf issue against a lowly team to now miss an important game against a formidable opponent. Hope Luke knows what he’s doing and can make the tough calls. You can’t be everyone’s mate in his position.

Hardwick said superstar Dustin Martin was substituted out of the game in the last quarter to manage his workload heading into a six-day break before the clash with Collingwood.

There will also be question marks about gun recruit Jacob Hopper, who picked up an ankle injury in the fourth quarter, but was able to finish the game.

“We’ll get scans and work our way through that one,” Hardwick said.

“We’re confident he’ll play next week, but we’ll wait and see.”

Damn, looking like 4 outs (including Broad) . Ah well, it’ll give Cumbo, Clarke, Miller and Sonsie a go.

Broad, Short, Hopper out & possibly Dusty.

Not ideal but we'll have a good crack regardless.

As others have said you dont win flags in March

Font risk the players and give the kids a run

Love to see
Sonsie , Clarke , Banks given a run

Even if Dusty has “hamstring tightness” or “hamstring awareness” and is able to play on Friday, it is still very worrying that he hasn’t shaken off this issue.

I’m really frustrated at the injury situation atm. Of course, I would rather this all happen now instead of R20, but we haven’t had a decent ran at it in ages. Didn’t we change fitness and conditioning staff last year?
