In all honesty, what’s the point of providing an Injury Update when we end up none the wiser. “Yeah, he’s a really important player for us”. No *smile*. The communication in this space has been very ordinary and that’s being kind.

Injury Report: Round 14, 2023

Get the latest injury update from Physical Performance Manager Luke Meehan ahead of Round 14.

Noah Cumberland, soleus

"Unfortunately last week at training he hurt himself at the start of the session. Things are going okay and we're looking at him to be available after the bye."

Ivan Soldo, foot

"He's actually had a really frustrating year, but things have really turned in the last couple of weeks. He's got to get through our main session still on Thursday, and we're expecting him to be available, finally."

Toby Nankervis, corky

"Toby's pretty tough, he'll be fine."

Jacob Hopper, soleus

"Jacob's going really well, he's making some strong progressions. He'll be available after the bye."

Tom Lynch, foot

"We're going slowly with Tom. We got some really good news with a scan and x-ray last week. Obviously he's very important and we're going to make sure things are spot on before we get him back into football, but things are going okay."

Josh Gibcus, hamstring

"Things are okay with Josh. Like Tom, and all our players, he's really important and we want to make sure things are right. So, we're going to make sure things are spot on before we progress him back into football."

Seth Campbell, adductor

"He's had his best week all year, so things are starting to turn for Seth which is great. We're all excited to see him and hopefully a couple of weeks after the bye he'll play his first game."

I told youse all. Time to get a vet in.
Now we get a decent update and injured players recovery are progressing.

Maybe I should have suggested a vet and a vet nurse

How about Gibcus couldn't even give us a rough time as to when he'll be back.

FFS I know it was a serious injury, expected him to miss around 3 months but by the time he gets back (at a guess RD20) most of the season would be gone. One of the longest hamstring injuries I've ever seen on a player.

If we get a vet in they’d all be euthanased the way these fitness guys are running current program.

Yeah maybe, but whats your expectations?
What do you want them to say - a specific return date? Somethong to mark in your calendar?
Thats not realistic though is it. Not how bodies are.

Its not a hamstring tear 3 to 4 week injury.
We know that.
It takes time to progress and rebuild, so it will be a rough timeline until its closer and he is doing more training.

Just ran Meehan's injury report through Google Translator:

Cumbo: the woos is whinging about a sore calf. Soleus is the only muscle I remember in that area so will say its that. The *smile* can still move around so will say he's doing ok but we might rest him this week in case what he's saying is real. In which case he will probably be our for a few months (but don't publish that bit)

Soldo: he's whinged all year about his foot but hasn't whinged this week so we think he could be available, finally

Nank: the big woos came off whinging about a corkie. We said what a woos and corkies are common at AFL level, you're the skipper, so get on with it.

Hopper: did a soleus (o my claf sub muscle I remember from uni). He 's whinging less about it so expect him to be back after the bye.

Lynch: he hurt his foot. The membership guys told me to keep pumping up his possible involvement coming into finals. So he's going well and we look to see him after the bye

Campbell: *smile* knows what his problem is. He's young so should work itself out. Hopefully we see him after the bye
