She certainly has some idea about how to make up BS and distort the facts.

I'm not convinced that The Voice will lead to a Treaty, I reckon it should, but I'm not particularly hopeful.

DS
She isnt doing herself any favours posting this sort of rubbish. She has gained "fame" pretty quickly and would be seen as having a big future within the LNP, but if she goes to far down the rabbit hole she will be too easily pigeonholed and will find it hard to get credibility back.

She never had any.

Dutton is using her as cannon fodder in his rearguard action, still fighting Howards culture war.

And shes ambitious, nasty, and self-interested enough (yes, that is a valid niche for black people to occupy too)

To do it.

I dont think she'd have got there without being savvy enough to see what role she's cast in here.

Other than a shadow cabinet wage and power,

Theres absolutely no upside for her in this debate

There should be upside though for her though, not with thoughtful, intelligent, caring people like us, but we are not the target, LNP voters are. for her own career, she should be playing to those a bit closer to the "centre". She is articulate and surely reasonably intelligent, that gives her a headstart over many LNP pollies. She can keep arguing the "no" case, but she shouldnt be pandering to groups like "Fair Australia".

The LNP will use up Jacinta Price and spit her out, just like they did with Julie Bishop.

like Warren Mundine - there's money and influence to be had by taking the hard right, pro-mining lobby, anti-indigenous position ... Id call them "useful idiots" in the service of Gina Rheinhardt but they aren't idiots - they know exactly what they are selling out and why.

Hey ezyt, it still irks me that you could liken me to Tony Abbott.

So just for clarity sakes, I was trying but obviously failing to point out that ‘the Voice’ to me, seems like a humble and obvious amendment to the constitution (which should have happened years ago) and yet not so obvious if 2 major parties like the Liberal Party and Nationals contest it which imo is a shamefully cynical or ignorant or purely ideological stance.

A disproportionate number but not all indigenous Australians seem to display classic symptoms of PTSD (high levels of domestic violence, substance abuse, high unemployment, poor health etc etc). If we listen to indigenous Australians many are telling us they’re suffering from communal unresolved grief and trauma through generations of loss of land and culture and human rights, exclusion and lies etc etc – racism. On an anecdotal level I’ve witnessed how PTSD manifests as an intergenerational contagion. Anyone who thinks PTSD can be fixed quickly hasn’t been deeply traumatized.

The sooner every gov of the day can somehow ensure the lived experience of indigenous Australians at every level is entrusted to fellow indigenous Australians the better. Only they get it. The education and health dept, the public service, community services, etc etc need real indigenous representation.

And symbolism counts, while the government of the day refuses to accept that celebrating the 26th Jan as Australia Day is the worst possible choice of day for most indigenous Australians the whole venture to acknowledge our past and embrace indigenous Australians is automatically undermined by default. It's totally delusional to have a foot in both camps – voice or no voice.

A statement of symbolic support from the AFL would be better than nothing, be appreciated by indigenous players and communities, and go some way towards reconciliation.

The AFL owes a huge debt to indigenous players given what they've contributed and the abuse they've had to put up with along the journey.

Still hoping we've either worked with Essendon, or gone out on our own, and have Incorporated "YES" into our Dreamtime jumper.

I reckon the AFL will come out and support it officially. They would be annoyed that the NRL beat them to the punch.

Wot you got a pee brain full of snot ? Work with the Druggies no way. Gee the Eat Em Alive war cry of the old Tiger Army must not exist anymore . It is a game of football not a confession box for bleeding sympathizers because it is trendy. Get down to Bunnings & buy some toughen up.

Should I pick up a case of 21st Century for you while I am there?

I am sorry. it was a misunderstanding on my part, but FWIW, I never meant to imply you politics are like Abbotts.

I was attempting to urge caution to us all to not even inadvertantly stray near NO viewpoint, but I made my point poorly

you made the point that the relationship between black and white needs a complete overhaul (I agree, and the voice is the mechanism to do it)

which I misinterpreted as a similar POV to Tony Abbotts submission to senate the other day that The Voice is being rushed.

My error. I conflated and confused issue and I see why you're irked. I would be too.

sorry

Does the AFL have anything similar? A truly independent indigenous voice? I can't think of one and I don't think it would fit with the insular way the place is run.

DS

closest thing I can think of is Phil Egan engaged to independently investigate Hawks racism allegations, which he did,

then he gets his door kicked in and his hard drives seized.

yay

Jack Dyer put it on the record that he quite horribly racially abused Syd Jackson.

He regretted it deeply in later life, he owned it, he apologised personally, and understood why Syd didn't accept his apology at all.
