Butler actually wouldve made his way back into the side in 2020 because thats the year Aarts was brought in.

Effectively his form dipped and also had some injury niggles in 2019 did Dan and fell behind Shai and Baker Stackman., then there was also Tommy.

Captain chaos was still running strong and Daniel Rioli was still forward.

In hindsight Butler would've got plenty of opportunities had he stayed at the RFC we can see now but at the time it looked grim and he was offered opprtunities and a bigger stack of cash.

Many Tigers fans didn't begrudge him taking the better offer, and many also were not too stressed about him moving on at the time.

He didn’t want to leave. His Manager knocked back the 12 month contract while he was overseas on holiday. Wanted 2 years. Club offered 1. Manager said get knicked. 2 years or nothing. Club withdrew offer. Saints came knocking with an offer and he was out of contract. He was pretty gutted for a while because he would have taken the 12 month contract. Good luck to him. Hope he goes well, except against us.

Dont particularly care about either to be honest. Butts is a fine player dont get me wrong, but Higgins is a moron with few tricks. The audacity to continually mock Grimey Grimes was funny. One is a 3 time GF winner and the other is a loudmouth with no prospect anytime soon.

Correct. I assume he (the manager) thought he was playing hard ball and would deliver a 2 year deal for Dan which is what Dan wanted. From what I was told, he would have accepted a 12 month contract though if he couldn’t get the 2 years being requested. The manager said it was 2 years or nothing and the Club decided to withdraw the offer of 12 months. Dan was in Bali ( I think) at the time. He then needed a football home and the Saints came knocking.

Butler was a big loss in hindsight. Would be great to get him back.
