Wish it was mine mate, but gpb gets the credit. :hihi

All kudos to GPB. That show had some seriously funny episodes. I remember me and my flatmate watching it one night and we were both :rofl :rofl

Re: Hardwick press conference

He just said on SEN that getting the Richmond job was his no. 1 priority over the Port and North jobs. He's also identified development as being crucial.

Really? Others would have you think otherwise! ;)

I'd say most people on here would have no idea either way. I bet if Damien got the North job he wouldn't be saying "bugger I really wanted the Richmond job" just the same.

im sure he is meadia savvy so i expect all the right things to be said..lets see what happens on the field... :spin

Re: Hardwick press conference

Team first and competitive at the ball when it's your turn. Not a bad place to start

Seems like an honest bloke who won't tolerate rubbish. I wouldn't be disappointed if his legacy was to bring a reputation for hardness, disciplined team play to Tigerland

Appears genuinely happy to coach the Tiges, but probably would have taken any senior job as long as it was available now

Best of luck Damien

Way too early to tell.
After the disaster that was Wallace, I'll judge Hardwick on his actions not words.

That's a cop out!
Of course you'll be right if you wait till afterwards to give an opinion.
Give an opinion NOW!

FWIW I reckon he's a great selection - just hope that's not a jinx.

I think one advantage he had over Hinkley is that he did his homework on us for the 2005 job so he saw another (failed) 5 years of us and is even more aware of how to fix us.

Which means the RFC for the first time in nearly three decades have managed to put their pride aside and admit to having f'd up.

Agree. Wasn't it great to see a hype-less presser for once.

In theory yes. Let's not hold our breath, there will be a lot of water to go under that bridge before we see any sign of a blueprint for success.

A caller mentioned the Hawks fitness guy was coming, that would be good news.

If that's the case - big tick already.

Re: Hardwick press conference

I liked the "We at the Richmond Football Club" line that he used quite a lot. I also liked the bit about "if players don't put there head over the ball, they will find themselves out the door very quickly"
I think that will have a few of the players looking for trades.

As for the not letting the jumper hit the floor quote. My reading of it, is to mean that you must have pride in the "colours" & if you disrespect the jumper "colours" you disrespect the Club & all who went before you.

Those two lines impressed me to the maximum.

Welcome to tigerland Damien.

Re: Hardwick press conference

This guy will succeed. You can see it in his eyes and you can hear it in his words.

I was imparessed with his quote about sentiment...which spells an end to many careers and indicates that he has the balls to make the tough calls.

If he culls some fo the sacred cows then so be it. If it brings him success and makes the players work hard excellent.

Many of his quotes should have the softies looking at their contracts or fearing the "come and have a chat with me" messages.

Go Damien....stick it up those who do not value their opportunity and those that do not place any pride in their jumper and the team.

Re: Hardwick press conference

I liked the reference to "The eleventh Premiership of the Richmond football Club."

I do believe it has been some 25 years since I last considered that possibility as anything other than a dream. What's that old mantra? Everything begins as a thought. Its a quote from Confucius or Buddha or someone.

Everything begins as a thought. The eleventh Premiership of the Richmond Football Club. Good Luck, Damien.

Re: Hardwick press conference

Spent a fair bit of time talking this over with Tiger family and friends today. My opinion: Win, Lose or draw a physically and MENTALLY strong side (with improved skills) is all i expect next year. Ladder position is irrelevant to me. Lets build long term.
