Hello??????

Yeah March should steer well clear of list comments. Sounds like a fool.

I wonder where Jade got that from. ;)

I am confident Hardwick will sort that out quick smart. He has seen plenty of successful teams and knows what a good midfield needs to be comprised of, it's Cameron's and Hardwicks opinion that really counts. Not March and Jade when it comes to said topic.

March would have had those comments made to him by Hardwick and other candidates in their "honest' assessment of the list.

People calling March a fool on this issue are similarly calling into question Hardwick's judgement.

Rubbish. The one area March always puts his foot it in it on interviews is when he starts taliking about the list. Been doing it for ages. And btw, Hardwick ....duuuuuuu.....

Re: Hardwick press conference

I was ambivalent yesterday re Hardwick.

Liked his passion and honesty today. Dont know if he can coach but appears to be a person a player can rely on to be consistent in their treatment. If honesty, passion and a commitment to make your self better can be translated to the playing staff we're on the right track.

Good luck Damo!!

Re: Hardwick press conference

The big difference between Wallace and Hardwick is that Wallace's first media conference was about him. First thing he said was "I had some unfinished business". "The last time I was at the RFC it didn't finish the way i liked it too". From the start it was all about himself. Hardwick has said everything we have been raving on about for years. His philosophies will be RFC first D.Hardwick second. That in itself should see a massive change in our culture. I like the boy ;D

Re: Hardwick press conference

Looks like the Herald Scum and the Aged have only uploaded 2 minute edited videos of the presser for some reason.

Interesting upon reflection Wallace left pretty much the same way as the 1st time only it took 4 more years this time.

DD, March was asked a question on list management and Hardwick's previous supposed brutal assessment of the Essendon list. March said Hardwick gave an honest assessment of the list and without being specific said we know where the list is at - has some strengths and weaknessess. Specifically mentioned midfield as a strength and key and small forwards as a weakness.

FWIW I agree that potentialy our list's strength is in midfield. Hardwick would have looked at Foley, Deledio, Cotchin, Tambling, Collins, Edwards Connors and short term Cousins in making this assessment.

I also wouldn't rule out Richo playing on ATM. March said that Hardwick rated Richo in our best few and that number one prority in Hawks planning against Richmond concentrated on Richo. Hardwick will speak with Richo and the medicos on where Richo's body is at before making a decision.

Re: Hardwick press conference

DH said that one of his key coaching philosophies is when there's a hard ball, and it's your turn, you go for it, or you're out the door....or words to that effect. Was music to my ears. I think this sums up what his coaching style is going to be like, and which players won't be around in future years.

Repeated "The Richmond Football Club's 11th premiership" about 3 times. Simple, but clear focus.

Has the enthusiasm that a recycled coach just wouldn't have.

Looking forward to the re-birth of the RFC!

Re: Hardwick press conference

If our midfield is so storng then why isn't the ball going into the F50? IMO the forwards are doing really well given lack of opportunities.

But March's comments reinforce my view that we'll be targeting Butcher in the draft.

Because our on field midfield is sh!te - Tuck and Jackson are in there 60% of the time.

Replace them with a fit and firing Cotchin and Collins and we improve 100% already.

Boy is he happy. His 6 year old girl said...."So is Cyril coming with you?" hahahah

That's really cute! We could only dream that Cyril 'delicious' Rioli would come over to Richmond. It would be nice, if Cyril embraced his richmond roots, from his uncle Maurice.

If anyone finds a link to the whole thing, be it video, audio or transcript, please let us know.

Re: Hardwick press conference

So March thinks our midfield is strong..... how is only having 2 players (excluding Cousins) who can consistently make the right decisions and hit targets...strong? He also says the ability is there... rubbish, we have a bottom 4 if not bottom 2 list. He should just shut the hell up and I'm bit worried about his deludedness, don't want him thinking finals are an option next year and putting pressure on DH.

Why the hell is March making comments on the list every single interview anyways? Not his place or job and should just say that's CC's job, etc like Gale did. Why the hell hasn't he been told by anyone to know his role??????

Re: Hardwick press conference

Talks the talk but does he walk the walk?

Soon find out after the season is finished and the culling begins.

Cheers mate, I heard it too.

I think we are two players away from having a strong midfield, I agree with have depth there but we have roleplayers and limited players in there and in my opinion we need another elite midfielder and another solid, well skilled midfielder with polish/finish. We need a clearance specialist also to replace Tuck but I expect Thomson to fill that slot.

I strongly believe Richo and Cousins will play next year unless something stops them on their side (desire for Cousins, medical for Richo etc).

Re: Hardwick press conference

If it's true that teams reflect the personality of their coach (and I believe it is), then we got ourselves a good one.

Good Luck Damian.

Re: Hardwick press conference

Very impressed with Hardwick's excitement and passion, said all the right things, it will be team, team team. Well done RFC for sticking to the plan, as a result we got the best of all the candidates and we can't ask for any more than that.

I think Damien is going to be a tough uncompromising leader. Like he said, "get the hard ball when it's your turn." Bring it!!!
