Grand Final 2020 Thread Richmond Vs Geelong / Game Day Thread

I reckon we just broke him.
Has no fight in him after that loss.

eh, I don't like this outlook. We've seen the devastating effects that football can have on people's mental health in recent years. Our own included.

No doubt, I've felt that Scott has been petty in the past. But to be fair, his press conference last night was gracious. No need to kick someone when they're down.

there's a massive number of players on their list that are, or will be in the 30 and over bracket next year and for the moment there's been no indication of further likely retirements. None of those players will get any better over future months n more than likely will be staring down the precipice of age n niggles.
Trade Caddy back for overs, plus Markov, Chol, etc for overs ... turn those picks into another Balta ... flog them again year after year ... rinse and repeat. :rotfl2

This is what will determine Geelong's future.

I hate them less now, but if Scott and the rest of that club can look at this and ask what they can learn from the loss, then they will be contenders. If not, they will slide.

Geelong are looking at an ageing list and some retirements. They need to reset a bit, if they have the right attitude they can come back.

Richmond are in an amazing position. We have retirements on the horizon but we have players we simply can't fit into the side on game day. We need to keep the attitude of team first and keep developing the youth. We also need to look at the youth we have and know we have been blessed with being able to get so many of them up to the standard to be part of a winning team, it won't always work and to get good players you need to also fail to develop some of the players. Just part of the equation.

In that context, I can see why Geelong moved heaven and earth to try and convince Josh Kelly to stay. You are right, Geelong have a whole chunk of their premium players coming up for retirement.

Kelly had the makings of an absolute gun coming right into his prime. Would someone like Kelly have been the extra piece of the puzzle to give Geelong the ability to put us to the sword when they had the chance last night?

That said, Kelly wasn’t up to the standards many expected this season at West Coast. Perhaps though it’s like the old rock, paper scissors game. It’s horses for courses. Certain clubs get the best out of certain players. Perhaps he was more suited to Geelong’s style and environment.

Woke up, walked down to the local Foodworks in Thornbury and grabbed the AGE and the SUN. Came home made a cuppa and sat in the sun outside and enjoyed the news!

After that I buried myself neck deep in Post Game analysis across the boards even wondered over to check out the salt on Geelong's pages too.

Surprising to read they are are mainly of the view that they were beaten by a bloody good side so like Salty's presser it kinda takes the wind out of the rebukes, for now anyway.

Will we hear more about Selwoods off ball shot on Baker? If not, it clearly demonstrates the media's overblown witch hunt on Lynch.

I liked Mitch Duncan but he's lost me with his 'up yours' to the Richmond throng.

Off all the trade chatter over the last fortnight the one that worries me most is losing Markov to the Suns. I pray it doesn't happen.

Danger will go for that elbow,... well you'd think so wouldn't ya?

HOw great would it be if the club could organise a group photo of players holding up their premiership cups together - '67 (Hart) '69 (Sheedy) '73 (Bourke) '74 (Balme) '80 (Bartlett) alongside '17 (Cotchin) '19 (Riewoldt) '20 (that other guy I can't quite remember his name....

I'd pay handsomely for that shot but time is of the essence!

Get it done Richmond!

The player who showed his vulnerability, changed his style, nurtured Dusty & others and is part of this culture shift that other clubs continue to try to copy.

The loss of Vlaustin is massive. Barely a mention of it on ch7. He's only one of the best defenders in the world.
Even in all the wrap ups today they talk about Vlaus being out but never say how the Tigers managed with one less bench for the whole game. Many occasions it's used as an (often reasonable) excuse for losing.
