As weird as it seems tonight's loss has finally ended what has been a season of nothing less than shithousery on all fronts, including Rona BS, rules on the run, the anti Tiger agenda, the players not ready for the season and the resulting injuries and disjointed footy that failed to recognise our game plan had instantly become redundant.

Relief is what I'm feeling, as the failure to launch along with the expectation of one actually was somewhat draining and left me quite apathetic, and indifferent towards a season that never really got going and then crashed over a cliff faster than a wrought iron hang gklider.

I'm just glad its over we are done for the year and have been for most of it, and the side who have given us so much joy and pride over the past few years can be put to pasture for a well earned break finally as they deserve one.

The thought of sneaking into the finals only to be bundled out on the big stage by a bunch of pretenders boiled my pisss also so I am also glad that this will not happen.

Hopefully the boys can re group recharge re focus and hit 2022 ready and raring to go unlike our start to 2021.

Bring on the trade draft and let the others fight for the * Premiership (no RFC involvement).

Here's to the boys re asserting themselves in 2022.

I can't think of one game this year where we have really clicked. Some good wins against Brisbane and Footscray but a really solid 4 quarter effort where our system worked is hard to think of.

I couldn't see us doing anything in the finals a few weeks ago and am even more convinced we would be making up the numbers now.

Let someone else make up the numbers, if we're in the finals I want us to be making the PF at an absolute minimum.

This short grab from SEN sums the situation up perfectly. We’ll be ok going forward:

The Tigers have won three of the last four premierships and made the Prelim in that fourth year. The last time they weren’t a factor in September was 2016, which may give their more senior players a much-needed mental and physical refresh.

Club mindfulness coach Emma Murray stated as much on SEN during the week, mentioning just how long some of their players had been in the premiership grind.

Looking forward to all the list management stuff that we haven't really participated in over the past few years. Big decisions to make, both personnel wise and strategy and game plan for next year.

Will be good to get a full pre season into the boys not these stupid 2 weeks before Xmas and then another break and then 6 weeks before pre season scratch matches start. Our young boys will be training for 1 or two months leading up to Xmas which they need to build the endurance base, strength and skills.

We would've been crushed in a final this year. How anyone can be pissed off after what we've been given recently is beyond me. Thank you again RFC.

Agree, it’s a relief. Sad, but still a relief.

Warning lights were flashing as far back as round 3 when Sydney took us apart on the G. The reactor went critical in round 8 when we were 9pts up at half time but Geelong went on to get thump us by 63pts. Again, at the G, our former fortress. The rest was just a slow, inevitable meltdown.

We are a system based team but the system doesn’t work anymore.

I'm relieved too, and my blood pressure will be too not having to watch the pathetic white maggots screw us every week.

Best thing is that we still tried to get into the 8 instead of like Scumwood who sacked their coach and hit the spoon zone of the ladder.

I’m pretty relaxed about it , never thought the run would last forever and always grateful for the last few seasons ,highs and lows of sport ,

now the problem is , and it’s just a hunch on the mental side of things , most of these guys will retire eventually feeling very content with their premierships , they would probably be feeling satisfied with their achievements already, not convinced the colllective hunger to climb Everest again will be there .

yeah I'd let it go awhile back.
started saying to friends how we weren't that switched on, big injuries, etc..
and that the best thing for us might be to not make the finals ..
if Emma Murray is mentioning the grind, then that somewhat justifies how I'm feeling - look forward, not back on what has been a diabolical season on a few fronts ..

I’m relieved too, and not angry, slightly sad, a mix of feelings really.

I’m hoping that the off season our power brokers make good decisions with new draftees, the media is satisfied with its agenda against the Tiges and they back off (they won’t, they need clicks - like that crap AFL headline ‘yellow and smashed’ - thanks Callum Murray).

Time for the team to rest reset and come back with a vengeance in 2022.

In the old days without cameras and analytics and a bureaucracy running the game, we might've won six or seven flags in a row.

Feel as though footy has lost something this year that it can never get back. Focusing on other interests to fill the void.

Yep it’s not the game I grew up with and loved. SHocking has destroyed it.

Couldn't have said it better Craig.

Glad we've not stuck in to play 1 week of finals. We've been woeful all year.

I'm relieved too, and a bit excited to look at the draft with some optimism.

Bring on '22.

I agree a little disappointed in a drop off that sees us completely out of the finals, but otherwise........can't win em all

If someone had said to me after the 2016 season, that we'd win 3 of the next 4 Premierships I would have thought they'd lost their marbles. Yet here we are, sure this season has been pretty cruddy but, I pretty sure we'll reset over the off season & come back with a vengeance next year.

Refresh the list with kids & selected oppo players & away we go again.

It is a relief to finally put the talk of another finals campaign this season to bed. In some ways I think the players and coaches will share in that relief. This means that the veterans who have had to be up mentally and physically for years and play through injury can have a proper rest and pre season. They can also properly plan for next season, which is something I never think they got a chance to do. Do we get that 100K we were fined last year back on our soft cap, too?
