Goodbye Mabior Chol

His ONLY hope with this team is third tall forward. Put bluntly, Mabs will need to retrain and develop his strengths as a low possession/high output goalkicker. He could be a hard match up with his speed and he has beautiful kicking skills.

If not, trade to give him the game time he deserves.

Needs to be able to hold his ground for that role so will need to build his strength, focus on picking ball flight and positioning and then he might be a chance. Hard to see it atm.

Perfect time to trade Cholly. Has some currency and just ain’t going to get any better. Take a pick 30 to 40 and run

He's a rookie isn't he.... don't know the nuances of these things but he can walk can't he?

Appears he could be traded however I thought there was talk of list number changes next year which means more players need to be cut? If so it would make it hard for Chol to find a team elsewhere I would think.

Richmond have the maximum six Category A rookies in 2020 – Jake Aarts, Liam Baker, Mabior Chol, Derek Eggmolesse-Smith, Marlion Pickett and Sydney Stack – and all are currently regulars in coach Damien Hardwick’s best 22.

Three of those rookies – Aarts, Pickett, Eggmolesse-Smith – are out of contract. Under AFL rules, players who have been on the rookie list for two years or more can reject another rookie contract and become unrestricted free agents.

Thanks @tigerlove .... Wouldn't that also mean he can go unimpeded as a free agent and we get compensated?

Richmond developed players should be categorised under a special compensation clause these days. Let's call it RM101..... Bang! Mid 1st round for starters ;)

Why should list be reduced?
The AFL wants list sizes reduced, why?
If we win another flag, the AFL might need to bulid a new southern stand on top of the existing one.
If you can afford 45 of the list and your not over the cap, so be it.
We miss out on kids like stack and castagna and just accept if they don't come from the draft, they have no chance.

Well therein lies the problem doesn't it? The only way clubs can afford list sizes is by share of AFL revenue and if the revenue drops substantially then no club can afford the list size and salary caps of 2019. So either players take substantial cuts to keep the size the same or list sizes are reduced. It's just economics. I don't know what's going to happen I was just pointing out that this has been a point of discussion. COVID and smallish crowds will remain an issue in 2021 imo.

Reducing the list size is just stupid, which means they are odds on to go ahead and do it.

Chol is a difficult one, shows flashes of being able to do special things but not reliable enough to keep his place. educed list sizes would likely see him off our list.

Hopefully getting dropped will have the desired effect, and that he has been practising his ruck craft.
