Golf

Was it the 4 days of tournament or a mix of practice tournament?

Did you play any courses whilst there?

I think I will look at the package tour option to save some hassles.

6 rounds of golf (3 at Pinehurst, 3 at local Augusta and surrounds courses)

Attended the Tues and Wed practice rounds, Fri and Sun Tournament days. That was a good mix, as you can only take a camera on-course on practice round days.

Tour options takes a lot of hassle out of everything. Golf and accomm booked, transfers to and from course sorted. You are very well baby sat.

Thanks Mops. Sounds like a great trip - was it door to door the whole thing or did you get yourself to and from the States?

Just had a brief look, there are lots of operators in this space. Imagine there are some better and worse ones.

International flights done by myself.

Flew into Charlotte, can’t for the life of me remember whether I had to get myself to the tour hotel or a transfer was provided.

Tour transferred everyone from Augusta to Atlanta airport on the Monday after the tournament for journey home.

Yeah there’s heaps.

I used Teed Up Tours. Think their itinerary only has 3 days at the tournament now. But they can organise extra days at an additional cost if you wanted.

One extra bonus they can provide is a round at Sage Valley if you wanted to. Also at an additional cost.

But there are so many operators now you would easily be able to find one that suits your exact wants and desires.

And maybe budget if you’re lucky !

Knapp time !

Boy, ugly golf from the only 2 guys who could win it. Knapp only hits 2 fairways for the day in the final round ! Dunno if I’ve seen that before ?

On to Florida.

More gimmicks from LIV.

Norman’s LIV Golf turns former star into multi-millionaire … 12 years after he last played professionally

"He has been one of golf’s greatest mysteries: the first American to achieve a feat on the PGA Tour since Tiger Woods who vanished from the professional game without a trace.

Twelve years on, social media can relax: the riddle that is Anthony Kim has been solved.

Of all the signings Greg Norman’s LIV Golf has made in the last two years as it upends the men’s professional game, none have bought as much intrigue as Kim, who will make his return to the sport in Saudi Arabia this week.
The former world No.6 hasn’t just been off the scene for a while, he hasn’t played a top-level tournament since 2012. On that occasion, he withdrew through injury, went off to have surgery on an Achilles tendon … and just never returned.

Tournament organisers have tried to whip up hype about their events by attempting to lure Kim back into the spotlight. There were murmurings of his imminent return, sightings here and there.
But he had never teed it up, reportedly not wanting to risk a $15 million insurance payout for a career-ending injury."

He’s a weirdo. Saw him go into complete meltdown mode first hand at the PGA Championship in 2006 at Medinah.

NQR.

This is another example of how tour players live a gifted life.

If that was any one of us, the ball would have gone into the hedges somewhere and some cantankerous old biddy would have come running out yelling and screaming to get out of her garden.

Lost ball, penalty, and $10 or whatever down the drain.

I watched the Women's World Championship in Singapore live today, Hannah Green 2 shots behind with 3 holes to play, birdies the last 3 holes which included a 30 footer on the last to win by a stroke :clap2

Bloody weather !

Geez the PGA Tour is having a tough time with the weather these first 2 months. Everywhere they’ve played so far this season from Hawaii to North and South California to Arizona to Florida …bad weather. Storms, flooding, very high winds, very cold temps etc.

Must be this climate change thing everyone keeps talking about.

Wooters in with a chance in Florida.
Teases only to disappoint ... again (or 'flatters to deceive' - take your pick). Having followed him closely from the outset, this is what really bugs me about MWL. So talented but continually throws shots away with wayward shots; it's his pattern to grab a couple of birdies or an eagle and then give it straight back to the course. He's very frustrating; maybe too much of a gambler in his mentality; just needs to understand the value of scoring more steady pars to compete at the PGA level against this depth of talent.

I thought he might be a real show today without many of the best PGA players competing, and with the course playing soft. Missed an eagle putt for a birdie on 3, then took another bird at 4. Before totally hooking nearly into water by about 30m at the par 3, 5th hole. Then missed his bogey putt back after taking a lucky drop onto the green. So 2 shots forward; 2 straight back!

I think Min has made a really silly error by creating this "Let him cook" BS which saw those typically boorish young Yank males dressing in chefs hats, gooning around and cheering (or is it taunting?) for him at his previous tournament . He's made a cross for his own back encouraging this kind of crap ... before he's achieved anything of real note on the Yankee tour. I sense that the conservative US commentators have type-cast him already as a bit of a brash upstart for this reason - appear to talk him up but is there a sneer underlying it? Such a contrast in the constant coverage of their latest wunderkind, all-American blonde type, Knapp, compared to seeing very occasional footage of MWL only when he either scores well or stuffs up. Anyway, just shut up until you put up, Min.

This tournament is not over yet, but once again, our golfers mostly demonstrate they can't seem to step up when the heats is on at the death. It's hard to see where our next tournament winner (men's) is going to emerge with 'dodgy back' Day (full credit to him for his competitive return but don't think he will ever beat the top echelon of current players in a major again after his back problems), Uncle Adam Smith (maybe still our most reliable player - a steady competitor only now) and erratic MWL.

And Cam Smith has turned into a battler at the lower end of the LIV tour recently, along with Leish! Marriage affected, Cam? Really underwhelming Aussies.
